Even being a local person I didn’t realise you meant Dartmouth, David. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I agree with you about non-fac, sites, TG. They are often oases of peace, especially at peak times when they can be much quieter than full facility club sites. I like(d) them.

The assumptions throughout the rest of your post are, of course, your opinion rather than fact.

Some CLs are also getting very expensive!

OH has just booked our Easter trip, 5 sites.......one CCC site and 4 CLs.  The CCC site is £26.10, the CLs are £20, £21, £22 and £25.

2 are serviced and 2 have toilet/shower, which we possibly will not use, and all required deposits.

The £25 one came as a bit of a shock as their own website  said £18, the info on the Club site was for 2022 and said £20, but when OH rang to check availability she was told £25.   It is where we want to be, not really any alternatives nearby, so we decided to book.  At least the electricity is included.

We have seen some CLs  now charging £30 plus.

Not really they are often voiced on CT and on FB.

I'm not aware of any retail store, pub, chip shop etc who might offer discounts to pensioners, also charging a membership fee.

I think that to charge a flat membership fee across the board, and then treat a section of the membership preferentially, is discrimination. Its not the same as getting a discount at Iceland every Tuesday.

How C&CC operate is entirely up to them, but it does affect how I view them. I'm not a member and have no intention of becoming one.

Regarding pensions, I know a lot of people who are very grateful for the increase and who are also making a couple of quid from the energy support scheme by putting on extra clothing and switching off non essential equipment

Re CCC Veteran membership. It’s half price, but only for 65(?) and over who have been a member for 25 years. I think! We qualify, but you have to contact them. It’s not automatically applied."

The above post appeared on Page 18, completely out of sync with current posts. What is CAMC doing with its database?

As for pricing, my views are well known. I noticed when updating my, now received, Sites Directory that some CL's are getting silly. One NonEHU CL wanted £18 whilst one with EHU was only £13. Does anyone ever do market comparisons, whether CAMC or private CL: owners?

CY says “As for pricing, my views are well known. I noticed when updating my, now received, Sites Directory that some CL's are getting silly. One NonEHU CL wanted £18 whilst one with EHU was only £13. Does anyone ever do market comparisons, whether CAMC or private CL: owners?”

We do CY, we will compare CLs in the same area, and decide which might give us the best VFM. That doesn’t mean we might choose the cheapest price, but will look at a lot of different factors important to us. We will also put other provision into the equation as well, such as small private sites, Britstops, Aires etc… It’s how we make up a tour, we might choose something very cheap or free for a one/two night stay, but then look at a very nice CL for staying a bit longer, but know it’s safe and secure to leave our pooch on site while we go for a bike ride. We did a 10 night tour last June, and stayed on a CL at £25 per night for four nights. But our other choices were so cheap, we still averaged £12.30 per night, and enjoyed every location for different reasons.

We don’t compare CLs in different areas of the country. We know some areas are very expensive, even for no hook ups. But other areas are a bit cheaper.

Just because something is often posted on CT and FB does not make it a fact in any way for any viewpoint. It is still just opinions.

Facts could be occupancy rates on basic sites against those with SP? I'm sure the club will look at those rather than opinions on CT and FB

Why would you want anyone to do a market comparison for you, I can do that for myself and I assumed that everyone does. One looks at the price and decides to pay it or not?

Taxes are not going up but as you get a pension increase if you are a tax payer you will automatically pay more tax. The amount you earn before paying tax is not going up, so hence you will pay more tax.

Last time I went to Dartmouth I could have need of an interpreter so the " local's of Dartmouth" could understand me, and I live the right side of the Tamar.
