It’s been a beautiful day up here in Yorkshire, wall to wall sunshine, sunny, crisp and cold. That’s the advantage of a MH, you take your heater with you, wherever you go😁

We have always enjoyed Winter touring, and it is just so easy with the MH. Much more relaxed and quiet of course wherever you go as well. Cathedrals, Abbeys and interesting churches are our likes for Winter touring, bit of walking, bit of cycling as well. It does seem that more and more folks are using their campers/MHs in winter nowadays. We like to use ours for day trips as well. This time last year, we were on a lovely CL not far away, met up with some friends, did a bit of walking. It was very cold, but we were lovely and snug in MH. We will be off grid next week, I bought dog a hot water bottle today🤣

Wow!!! interesting statistics, could this be called "an aggresive take over by motor caravans"
when we lived in Scotland, and much younger of course, we were always out and about during the winter months, loved it, since moving south with better access to the ferry we have tended to seek out much warmer areas. Looking at our caravan this morning its difficult to believe we were so crazy, frozen solid.

Our current site in the Lake District is very close to being full, with the split in units probably 4:1 in favour of motorhomes. A successful site in Winter ideally requires to be close to a town/bus stop/ areas of interest etc Compared to the friendly club the CAMC fails miserably with regard to the first one in this part of the UK. The weather this week has been glorious - cold, dry, sunny, with the hills full of snow but no snow at low levels. What more can you ask for, the result of weather forecast watching and only booking the day before.

Wow! agen, perhaps the Spanish model e.g. MH's "aggressively" moving in and edgeing the caravan out, is more advanced than we thought, will be interesting to see what happens during the summer months, my guess is that MH's are better equipped to deal with adverse weather conditions than caravans unless you are towing with a reliable 4x4, so maybe we should not jump to any conclusions just yet.

Rather than aggressive, may be more a case of the ‘penny has dropped’ for most of us previously tugged caravaners which many on site may be. Maybe they haven’t edged out, maybe more a case of them evolving. However if, in the future, the advantages for moving back to towing was advantageous I’d certainly consider this. In the meantime I just love the Moho life, it’s right for us, right here, right now.👍

Just reporting what i had seen and observed, which, i seem to recall was acknowledged as factual by at least 2 people on this forum who were in different regions of Spain to that which i had reported on, and note my last sentence from last post

I see no reason why it should worry anyone what other people choose to buy. We have a caravan because it suits us. Others use motorhomes for the same reason, and I don't care what the ratio might be on site.
Buying a motorhome isn't the 'soft option' anymore than buying a caravan is the 'hard option'. Its about choice, cost and what suits your lifestyle and touring preferences, be that what you buy or where you prefer to go.

I think the model we are discussing is "an aggresive takeover of sites by Motor Homes", it is totally irrelevant as to what season of the year this takes place, judging by some reports on here MH's are already in the majority on some northern sites and some are almost full, and yes it is winter time.
we have had weather like this all week, yes it is 0 degs but many out in shorts, pity the club site on the IOW is not open, might have been tempted along with many others

It matters not what is happening anywhere else in the world. The plain fact is that in the UK there has been a big surge in motorhome ownership. If this does continue then I can see an increasing demand for facilities for them. We have seen this happening on the NC500 and as the facilities to tour get better I think it will suck in more tourers from the the Continent so swelling the requirements.

The big (really big) MHs tend to be a tad selective about the Club Sites they use. Exeter Racecourse is a big favourite, seen some very big beasties on there. Likewise Warwick Racecourse along the running rails. Refurbished Clumber Park had a few very large examples as well last August. We were pitched up next to one around 9metres at YRP, but he struggled to get it onto even a specially selected pitch. Lots of the big outfits have a small car with them as well. We saw predominantly MHs in Scotland, but we were impressed with the move towards providing more facilities up there last year.

Am I alone in being staggered that, what I thought was clearly a light hearted OP, in response to a, presumably, deliberately provocative post on another forum has run to, now 13 pages and provoked such vitriol that several posts have had to be removed?
Speaking as a non-aggressive, but rather bemused static caravan owner, that is!

correct me if i am wrong, but there is a post on here stating that a very large 5th wheel with pull out sides had eclipsed his pitch, yes only 1, this week, but 1 becomes 2 etc, and as i said in an earlier post, who would have thought 10 years ago that we would be introducing 8ft wide caravans, i guess you could call it progress.
