CARE WHEN MAKING CHANGES ON THE NEW BOOKING SYSTEM. For information only

I recently made a booking for a club site in July. Under the new system I paid the 20% deposit with the option to pay the balance on arrival.

Today I attempted to make a change to the booking on-line. The booking is well outside the 21 day limit but, because I tried to reduce the number of days from 10 to 7, the system tried to charge me a cancellation fee of £50!!!. Luckily I spotted this before hitting confirm.

I had to contact the service centre to get the change made correctly - certainly NOT an improvement if this is the way the new service works. I queried it with the agent who indicated this should not have happened.

Hopefully this was a one off glitch but just in case be vigilant if you are trying to amend a booking. Check carefully.

    Thanks for the heads up.
Even if it was within 21 days I thought the penalty was only a proportion of your deposit for such a change. I wonder where the £50 comes from. Is it perhaps a function of the system being a clone of the overseas version, where I believe cancellation fees do apply. For some reason perhaps it has not recognised it as a UK booking.

Thanks for the heads up, a bit worrying for those who don't always check the finer details.

Thanks. A bit concerning and I'm not convinced the financial side is working as it should. A good idea to post this event on the feedback form

I just had a look at the New Booking Experience "deposits" and it still isn't easy to understand.

Out of interest and a separate issue, I had to make a booking over the weekend, my card will be out of date by the time we arrive on site and there's no method to update cards for payment on line unless a payment is manually made in advance. I've just spent some time updating my new card details elsewhere but there is no facility with CAMC.

Reported as above to the forum

If changing a booking before the 21 day cancellation period involves a phone call everytime then this is certainly a step backwards

The new booking system is awful. It's very clunky. I can't use it on my usual browser, Firefox. Chrome just about works, but its terribly glitchy and won't accept a different Debit card to the one I have saved, even tho I put in all the right details.

Thanks to the OP for raising this issue. I will now lock this discussion and ask that members use the original thread here for all things to do with the new Booking System.

    Thanks
