Sorry to read your news, Debs. Our old boy George starting fitting in the middle of the night when we were away in the caravan at Hawes - many years ago now but I distinctly remember how upsetting it was. We were lucky enough to be able to see a lovely old school vet at Bainbridge on the Sunday morning who took a long time to check him over and prescribed a course of medication straight away. He was on that for the rest of his life and, although he still had occasional fits which we knew how to deal with (the vet said to call his name out loud as soon as he started fitting which apparently helps to bring them out of the fit) he lived to a good old age of 14 and still enjoyed life, though at a gentler pace than before.
Will be thinking of you all.

That’s a brilliant cake brue🤣 I would call it a climate change cake….no snow👍
Sorry to hear about the pooch Debsc, but with love and care, and the right treatment, hopefully can enjoy a long life. We never expected to have our old lad this long after all his issues, but he will be 13 in January, and still potters on enjoying his life.

Love the cake brue, looks like Caramac icing and I love caramac.
Raining here all morning, much of the snow has gone, still bits on the fields and gardens. Lots of very big puddles at the side of the roads. Skies looking better not so menacing. Temperature is up but it still feels cold, with all the snow and rain very damp air, thankfully no strong winds.
Christmas present wrapping this afternoon.

Sorry about the news about your daughters? terrier cheese can normally overcome any reticence about taking tablets although one of our collies woul somehow hold the pill in her mouth until she thought we were not looking nd then drop it

Oh, Alas Alas Alas Sniffle Sob.
Two points JVB, I remember the phrase as :~~ Fix It Again Toni
Second point is :~~ I spoke to my tame Mechanic this morning and he will accept the Ducato in for repair but sadly not until 5th January 2023 so that also blows the 'T omorrow ' part in to the mists of time, sadly. At least it means the vehicle will be parked up quite safely for a couple of weeks with no chance of it being stolen and it should even get an early M.O.T. and service ~~ not that it has done too many miles over the last three years anyway .
Just Spoke to GREEN FLAG and they suggest, quite happily, that I should phone them to request the Recovery Service as normal but the day before hand with no difficulty.

Very wet and windy today. But our builder is working away with a new roof going over two buidlings and the alley inbetween.
Ironically the salesman came to do the final measuring for the solar panels that will be fitted on the new roof. All in the poring rain.

It was amazing to see green instead of white looking out this morning and a very 'warm' day or perhaps it appeared warm at 14C?
Spent a great day in Durham just walking around and enjoying life. Found a doggy friendly cafe called Venals which I highly recommend if anyone is visiting Durham and you get to it from an alleyway, easily missed next to Waterstones

So much for Squirrel proof bird feeders! I was worried I might have to get the wire cutters out but like Harry Houdini he managed to escape.

What a change in temperature, from -5 C or there abouts to +14 today! Had rain through the night but dry for most of the day today. Easy short drive to our latest CL, which is nearly full. Could that be because it is as cheap as any we've stopped on this trip? Not on a bus route, nor near enough to walk into any town, and not in what one would call a holiday area.......strange as we thought we would be the only unit here.

Worn out tonight, was at DD's to welcome her cleaning lady at 9am, as she had an unexpected meeting in her office, so it has been a long day as not home till well after 5pm.
OH had a Christmas shopping list from DD , so did not arrive till after 12, with only moderate success....... no heated blankets left in Lidl. She did however get a remote controlled train for Callum! and some boxes of biscuits to add to the goodie bags for DD and DS.
Neither of them need, or want, more "stuff", so happy with food items.
OH headed home just after 4pm to prepare dinner, so that was ready when I got home.
Picture received from spurtle lady........not what I had made.......so off to make another one

Thanks for putting the YouTube on brue very colourful and hope you enjoy it, nothing like that around here we would have to go much further north to the Loire Valley.
A duller day after yesterday and ran forecast for later, a little bit of final shopping later then drop a couple of cards to friends on the way back home.
Birds busy on the feeders and did not like it when I cleaned the windows but all done and looks a lot better.

Drier day today though we did have a couple of passing showers.
OH was down at the Men's Shed this morning for a few hours so I went good shopping. Shops not busy but the roads were.
Bumped into an old work colleague in the car park, haven't seen her since retiring almost 12 years ago. We didn't get a long chat as it started to rain, such a shame as it was nice to see her again.
Have worked out our electricity bill since returning 3weeks ago, not as bad as I feared. Still to work out the gas (lpg) bill. I have been doing trials to compare having the heating on 8am - 9pm or going off for 2 hours mid morning and the same in the afternoon. There is definitely a saving but on the very cold days it was to cold to have it off. Now that the extreme cold has passed its back to the timer clock again.

We have had a busy few days. On Friday we were back in Stamford as a friend who lives there invited us and another friend to her house for a festive morning of coffee and cakes and pastries. Saturday I was on Guiding duty in the morning - gosh is was cold on there! Not many visitors sadly. In the afternoon we took our nearly 3 year old great grandson and his mummy and daddy (our grand-daughter and her partner) to see Father Christmas. Our Gt Grandson was so excited as were we! I was back on Welcome duty at the Cathedral this morning - very busy with visitors today and also the Cathedral school were in practising for their Christmas concert this evening so it was a lovely festive morning. In between I wrapped Christmas presents while OH watched the football. I think I am now nearly finished. I do hope so! Christmas cards are coming in dribs and drabs but there are still some people we haven't received a card from. I don't know whether they will arrive after Christmas or whether people have decide not to send any this year. Some people have been in touch with nice messages which is lovely. So good to hear from them. As everywhere else the ice and snow have gone, we had torrential rain on Sunday afternoon and evening but today has been a really nice day with sunshine and less cold. I hope no-one has been affected by floods and burst water mains. Take care everyone, especially with so many essential services being on strike.

A fine day today, and as the forecast for the rest of the week is for showers OH decided we had to get our washing done, so we only managed a late morning walk on the local airfield, along part of the Trans Pennine Trail. After lunch had a pleasant walk around Barlow Nature Reserve.

That looks wonderful brue. I hope you find a dry evening to go. After a lovely sunny, dry day yesterday it is teeming with rain again this morning. I am off to deliver a Christmas present to a friend later.

Brue that looks wonderful, I hope you get a dry evening.
We did one at Kew, was stunning, thinking about it that must have been 2018!
Our, then, local council started something similar about 3 years ago in the large estate I walked regularly walk Dora - it was pretty but we'd been spoiled.
Milliehull's right, heavy rain such a disappointment after yesterday when I managed to dry dog towels.
I think we're there except for salad bits for the holiday period. So can kick back for a day or 2.
Nothing else for it going to have to do a wet walk 🥲. I'm missing the cold hard fields already and this is only day three 🤣
Stay safe folks and enjoy your day

We decided to go yesterday, early evening it was a good display, lots of families out enjoying the event. Only took 3 photos in the same spot where the lights changed colour to great effect!

Early 8am visit to the hygienist this morning. This is the second appointment and the other half of my clean, she does one half of my mouth at a time. I have gum disease and now a clean is just too painful without anesthetiser. Lots put in, four injections top and 4 bottom on the one side and, thankfully, pain free. The small problem is now that almost 2 hours later and I still can’t manage to drink a cup of tea even using a straw. Better than hurting though, had to wait 8 months for the two appointments, she is in demand as good at her job. Just wish that I could stop dribbling.

DEBSC a very early start for such a pleasant task! Glad it's all done and it was pain-free.
Took OH to a local dentist yesterday to have his bridge put back in. Hoping the £50 fee, payable on booking, will be refunded by Denplan. We both went into the surgery, sussing out for future use. Found them very pleasant and they could take us on, but we'll discuss in the new year as it appears its not as simple as just changing practice. We get discount as both of us and son on same policy, too much to take in and comprehend at the moment. It seems we have to pay for xrays and check up before we can be taken on. We've been Denplan for over 20 years and been seen by the dentist 4 times a year...... But everything is practice based so need to discuss with son as he stayed with Essex practice.
Managed a good walk, in the dry, the devil takes care of his own 😉, we stuck to hard surfaces and used an old disused road for off lead run. It started raining again soon after we returned home. Dora had us up 3 times in the night bless her and she still has a dodgy tummy bless her, so didn't want to walk too far. So I'm taking it easy myself today as I find it hard to go back to sleep once I'm awake 0130 having got to bed shortly before midnight.

Bakers 2, I've perfected a good trick for dropping off to sleep after waking ~~ I've got a few terrible, utterly pointless boring books on my Kindle which I can select and read without needing the light on ~~ I DO have to ensure it will land on something soft without clattering though

We had a lovely day out to Whitby yesterday. We realise it’s a few days before Christmas and lots of places were closed but we’ve never seen it so empty, brilliant for walking around though!! The wire sculptures were really good, there were quite a few of them around.
