Hi guys at the moment I have the ssangyong korando 2.2ELX 4WD for towing my 1500kg capiro and it is brilliant, my problem is the new 1.6ltr diesel korando im looking at the books say its ok to tow my van legally but unsure about the 1.6ltr diesel engine having the grunt. Does anyone tow with the new korando, if so how do you rate it.

    Hi

You may already be aware of the SSangyong caravan & camping club facebook page but if not google them, its a quick free registration. I joined when i was thinking of having the new Rexton and they were very helpful.

To be honest Wotto the caravan and motorhome club says it could struggle with towing it, the actual weight ratio is 87% so no problem there especially when I put the full awning in the car and us probably brings it to about 83%. I see someone on YouTube who was happy with there korando towing a twin axle but just wanted to hear from caravaners who towed same weight, for an honest appinion.

Loading the car does not affect the kerb weight, PP. The KW remains the same and all you do by loading the car is take yourself closer to (and hopefully not over) it’s max laden weight. If you’re towing at 87% of KW you will still be at 87% no matter what you put in the car.

    Hi PP.

That's why i suggested looking at the Ssangyong CC facebook page for some owners comments. Its worth having a look at towcarinfo website too.

    cheers for now
