Carnon Downs - Arrival time
Now I know that 13.00 is the earliest arrival time on sites, there has been plenty of talk on here about it. I have just booked Carnon Downs for next year, and my booking confirmation clearly states 13.00 as the earliest arrival time.
Pity the club website doesn't give the same time!!! It clearly states 12.00............ Doesn't bother me, as I won't be arriving until late afternoon but you would think the club could at least have the same times shown on the booking page as on the confirmation. No wonder there is confusion.
I was going to take a screen shot to post on here, but I figured life is too short to try and upload it.

Its the poor Site Staff I feel for….

I too feel sorry for the site staff. For around 12 months they had to put up with a lot of abuse due to people complaining about the site rules in respect of Covid, then it was mainly due to site arrival times, now it is the new booking site and site arrival times. It is little wonder that the Club are having problems recruiting and retaining staff. I agree that it is mediocre in the extreme that the new booking site is still stating the wrong arrival times at some sites, but it is the Club which is at fault, not the onsite staff. I would also point out that, even when a site clearly states the earliest arrival time is 1.00 and the booking confirmation is 1.00 many members still arrive early, often well before arrival time, expecting to be let on site, then when refused and asked to leave and come back later, become upset and/or annoyed and write a review which criticises the site staff, when in fact, it is the member who is at fault!

There is just a total lack of quality control on the website. Several years ago I emailed the club pointing out some glaring errors. I received a very nice email back thanking me and stating my email had passed on to the appropriate team to rectify the matter. The mistakes still hadn’t been corrected two years later.😡 I put a lot of it down to, “I’ve sent an email so I’ve done the job”. The same thing was happening latterly when I was working. An email requesting some action would just keep getting forwarded and never dealt with by anyone. Each link in the chain happy they had dealt with the issue.🤷🏻♀️

I agree with what you say. It may have worked better if the Club had changed to a more competent company than Air Angel, BEFORE the change in the new booking system was introduced and perhaps it may have worked far better. There must be many other companies which provide IT systems for the hospitality industry as there are numerous large holiday companies which obviously use them, so it is not as though there are no others that they could use.

British Idustry was renown for that attitude & look how that ended🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️. Team players with a need & willingness to support the revenue stream is needed not ‘I’m alright Jack’🙁

Agree. These are relatively minor issues, but because of the Club’s lack of attention and urgency in correcting such bloopers, they escalate out of all proportion, and become misleading for visitors and create unnecessary stress for staff.
As someone else pointed out on another thread somewhere, Members are doing the groundwork for HQ, having to point out the errors constantly. It’s actually got me wondering if the different Depts at HQ are communicating, or if there isn’t some kind of “not my brief” pass the email along happening. I hope I’m wrong…….

Perhaps the internal, between departments, email system has been set up by the same persons that have made such a b***is of the new booking sysyem!!😀

Another reason for arriving a little early is in the hope of securing a 'bettter' pitch, maybe away from the road, nearer the conveniences etc. As caravanners we normally go somewhere for 7 nights and hope we end up on a decent pitch and not for instance in the shade under a tree. If members were able to book their pitch on-line (which you can at most private sites) then the 13:00 scramble would disappear.

There is no justifiable reason for arriving early.
I beg to differ about 'most' private sites allowing booking of specific pitches. It is my belief they are in the minority. Practically, how can you possibly determine the best pitch for you if you've not visited a site before?
Please don't ask CAMC to further complicate their booking system🤯🤣

The problem with pitch booking is that because of how the club operates it will lead to a reduction in availability. A lot of private sites only allow fixed weeks to be booked in the high season, only allowing shorter bookings closer to the time. The CC’s big plus is you can book any number of nights from one up, even at peak times. As motorhomers we usually stay for 1 to 4 nights. We’ve already lost one USP, let’s not give away another. Few private sites permit one night bookings.

Agreed. Not just pitch booking, now available at our long term winter site, but also as the club divides its offering into awning/non, HS/grass, Premium/SP/Std pitch types overall availability may be reduced as some customers won't be happy with the extra costs if there are only certain types available, similarly some customers won't be happy if they can't get a certain type of 'premium/SP' pitch...grass/HS will also divide opinion and therefore availability of acceptable choice....

......but we're discussing arrival times at Carnon Downs where the club has the wrong info on the site page.

Is that winter site abroad BB? This thread is about a club site in the UK sites and touring so what happens abroad is of no relevance in this thread.
For many years you were posting about how there should being differing prices for HS and grass and now it's happened you're against it?
But that aside what you're describing:
some customers won't be happy with the extra costs if there are only certain types available, similarly some customers won't be happy if they can't get a certain type of 'premium/SP' pitch...grass/HS will also divide opinion and therefore availability of acceptable choice
makes no sense in relation to this thread, you're talking about costs and availability and this thread is about incorrect arrival times, and now for some reason discussing pitch types as an excuse for arriving early, which of course it is not and you did post that people arriving early are selfish.
As to availability and/or cost? If any site does not have the pitch type and price one wishes for then one goes elsewhere? Nothing to do with arrival times.

Hi everyone, Thank you for raising this. I've investigated this further and can advise the arrival time on Carnon Downs is in fact 12 noon. This should now be updated on the arrival emails too and we apologise for the confusion.

Not many sites are actually owned by this club many are on leases from the owners of the land they are on or are run by this club for the owners
There are a few sites that have different arrival and departure. times but normally. It is in the lease agreement
Carnon Downs? not sure as iit has recently been bought by this club?
