Trying to book a CL without email

I sometimes wonder if CLs want customers.  Generally if they don't have email I don't bother trying to book as I'm fed up with hanging on for a reply or leaving a message which no one responds to.  What business operates without email these days or can afford to ignore potential customers?

Some people don't spend their lives on-line.

    Some people don't want internet.

Some areas still don't have internet.

Further to the above, I'm trying to book a CL in an area where only 6 are listed and only 1 opens year round. I rang one number and left a message last week, no response so rang again today to be told that number isn't the site and to ring another, did that and got an answerphone telling me to ring another number but only after 7 on weekdays. If I didn't need that specific area and date I'd give up!

I agree that sometimes CL owners don’t really help themselves but, equally, it’s possible you’re putting a hurdle in your own way by not contacting the ones that don’t publish an email address. A phone number or two should be all that’s needed, except in the case you quoted.

If CL owners cannot it seems be bothered?to ensure their contact information is up to date then they only gave themselves to blame for poor occupancy undecided

I am not aware of any CLs without email that are moaning about a lack of bookings. There is a CL on trust pilot who says booking are down 80% because of the new website.

But if a CL doesn’t want to use email it’s up to them. It annoys me if sites dont have email but I just accept it.

There are people who for whatever reason simply don’t do email. Someone I know, retired teacher, holds a number of positions like secretary or chair in voluntary organisations, but doesn’t have email. Personally I would find life really difficult without it, but there you are.

There's no guarantee a CL with email will be any more efficient than one without.

Many a time I've booked elsewhere whilst waiting for a reply to my email. If necessary I'll phone the CL rather than wait. One of my favourite sites doesn't have email but prefers phone contact. Has an answerphone and definitely is quick in replying.

The OPs circumstances seem unusual and not the norm in my own experience.

I do not know in my post that I have mentioned needing an email address but if as the post I answered it seems difficult to book a pitch

We use a lot of CLs, and nearly always phone to book, even if the CL has email or a booking website. If it’s somewhere we haven’t been before, I often have one or two questions, and like to discuss. Can’t say we have problems. I do recognise that for many places, the CL might be only a tiny part of a larger business, such as a farm, or holiday let’s. Time of day when you phone might be crucial. Doesn’t bother us.
