Snagging list for new booking system

It works PD, but on a fairly new iPad with latest OS and a 50MB 4G download speed it is very clunky, which I would find annoying if I wanted to search for CL’s. Take them off the search and just look for sites and it works relatively smoothly.

I have just tried my Android devices, a smart phone and 8 inch tablet.
The Smart phone is next to useless, the screen is too small for both the App (version 1.02) and the Firefox browser. The old App was far better.
The 8 inch tablet is usable both with the App (version 1.02) and the browser although it works much slower than on the desktop, some might say cluncky and I still don't think the App is as good as the old one. I think work needs to be done to improve the App and try to improve the speed on the Android devices. A plus point, I did manage to transfer our digital membership cards to Goggle Wallet without any difficulty.

Think the club needs to look at their site details, apparently Low park wood nr Kendal only has 9 hard standing pitches out of 139. Not when I was last there there wasn’t. Things like this they should know and print correctly, this will put people of in poor weather thinking they only have grass

Melrose is showing as only having 10 HS pitches, when it's all HS. There are 10 SP though.

Any idea were CL pricing and directions to site are hidden.

Brue, I'm using a Samsung tablet, Android. If I go to "Find a UK campsite", and then in the dropdown menu click on Certificated Locations, I still get the main booking page. I tried finding CLs, but when I input a county, I then also had to put a start and end date in. It then showed me a choice of UK sites, Affiliated Sites, CLs and Overseas Sites. It wasn't possible to exclude UK sites by unticking it, so both those and CLs had a tick. However, after putting a filter in for Toilet Block, all it came up with were 9 main CAMC sites, not CL to be seen in the list.
Saying that, I input Lancashire, and I'm sure that Meathop, Coniston, and Kendal are definitely not in Lancashire! As for Hawes and Wharfedale, I'm pretty sure they're in Yorkshire! Although again, Bolton Abbey and other Yorkshire sites weren't included in the list, so why were Hawes and Wharfedale?
Altogether a serious mess IMHO. So no succes in finding CLs that way.

Ina it's far from ok, I've stopped putting dates in and that seems to help. Just from the top of my head I click on CLs in the filter box, use Devon Uk as a tester although that does also bring up main sites in the locality and over the border. And then you have to keep expanding the map, not easy on a phone as you lose the general view.
What I liked in the old search was the easy route in, search County eg Devon, search Town eg Axminster, so simple although not foolproof as it didn't hold the search info. But it was fairly speedy.
Anyway goodbye to all that and still no CL prices.
On small devices it's very tedious, I'm back on my Chromebook just now.
If you're looking on the main UK Campsite website page look for CLs and don't press search as this takes you straight into bookings, instead go down to the next bit about Choose where to Stay.

Brue, I haven't even tried it on a phone, it's bad enough on a tablet! Yes, I did try looking the way you describe a couple of days ago, but as you say, that's also tedious, compared to the old way.
IMHO the fact that they've lumped together all UK sites, including CLs, and overseas sites in one system, is incompatible. One size doesn't fit all, CLs aren't bookable via the main system, but overseas sites are (as well as UK sites of course).
Apart from that, as thehappycaravanners posted above about Kendal, I saw Meathop also only has 9 hardstandings out of 113 pitches. When we were last there, there were a lot more than that, so unless they've been busy changing those into grass pitches since then, that's also not correct

New Booking system is unnecessarily complicated (Also asking for unneeded information) and as a result is slower to make a booking.
The original system was far easier to use, perfectly adequate and only required the addition of a section to accept a deposit. (Is there any point in asking you revert and make the small required mod?)
Many companies are doing this type of thing. Modifying good simple on-line systems and making them "User Unfriendly".

Not all of us are as computer proficient as you appear to be, and many do not have a desktop to work out with, especially when away in their unit as we are most of the year round, just a kindle or i-phone, and the old system worked perfectly fine on those.

Hi,
I have also posted on New booking system topic, before I found this topic. Snag I found yesterday and that has been reported
trying to reduce a July 2023 (10 months away) booking by 1 night from 9 to 8 nights. asked for cancellation reasons. overall booking costs increased by +£30. Why? apparently system was reducing site fees by 1 night but adding on £77 cancellation charges. EG Staff member had to amend booking for me without cancellation charges. they have taken screen shots of what I was seeing and reported it to there IT team.

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but when booking for a campervan towing a caravan, the two lengths are combined by the website and then the outfit becomes too long to make a booking.
I managed to operate a workaround by calling our campervan a car, but I resent having to lie when there is a category for campervan as towing vehicle. plus of course, one is then in the hands of the site warden to accept that you are bringing the outfit 'as booked'.
Plus, please remove the requirement for dates of birth for UK bookings - it is unnecessary and intrusive.

It seems that when the IT department or some one came up with the "idea?*of trying to bolt! a UK booking system onto a system.desighed for use for overseas bookings not lot of "will it work?!"was given much precedence noting how many"over there glitches* have appeared since the unanounced introduction to how it has turned out
It should but will not make for an "interesting" AGM

One suggestion, if you do not have a site open on your browser, would be to go on the CL Bookings website, select a CL close to the one you want to visit if it is not one of theirs. That site's web page gives you a link to it's old CC page at the bottom. Open that up and again at the bottom will, as always, be CLs close by, and hopefully the one you want. Select that and there will be the direction listed when you open the map. Hope this makes sense and is helpful.
Another option is to look for your chosen CL on the searchforsites web site, which will also give you a link to the site in the old format, and hey presto the direction will be there, as above.😁

Para 1 patronising at best, and rubbish in fact
Yes I know all about that method as I'm sure do most.
However,
click > find a UK campsite> certificated locations and up pops Search A CL which takes you to the booking system.
Next time you reply please spend a little more time trying to understand what someone is saying rather than composing your best " I know better than you" condescending response

I am very frustrated with the new booking system. Why, for example, if I search for a campsite in Dorset uk I get a list of campsites that are not in or even near Dorset.

Clearly it is something that still needs work. Although I think frustrating a bit strong. The map comes on showing too large an area, but it does include Dorset. It then lists the sites in that window in alphabetical order. Zoom in on Dorset and the left hand pane just shows those sites.

Unfortunately on my Android 12 phone the CL map search jumps all over the place it's very difficult to hang onto a particular spot. I was just checking this out a bit more and saw that a CL had a phone number but the email was x@xx trying to see if this applied on other CLs I lost the plot, literally.
On the phone it is either list or map, no room for both.
It looks like things are still device specific, so OK if looking in on a laptop maybe but on the move with a phone not so good.

Just the same for me, what a mess!! I have given up trying to use the app on my phone.

I tried looking for late availability and I put location as United Kingdom but it only brought up 20 results and didn't go past B.
Also how do you transfer a booking with deposit paid to another site for the same dates , there doesn't seem to be anywhere online to do this. There is an amend button but not transfer button.
To ring would be impossible for me as it's Mon - Friday 9 -5.30 when I am at work .

I do wonder what they did most of there testing on. Looking for sites only, which is all we generally do, the App on the ipad and iphone run very smoothly. The phone version even boots up in the area you are currently in, I suppose it knows from the GPS chip. My main complaint about the phone App, which is always going to be a compromise on space, is that the buttons for include sites CL’s and POI’s are huge. They either need to be smaller or a facility to hide. The iPad App just needs to be made available in landscape, then it would be possible to use maps and site lists together.
Both slow up as soon as CL’s are thrown into the mix, almost as though the system cannot cope. My broadband speed and processors on the devices should certainly be capable of handling the load.

I agree. I've completely given up using the new app on my phone.
We research CLs and sites on my wife's phone using the old app and then go to the slightly less clunky website on a laptop to make a booking.
It's far from ideal when touring. A real step backwards.

Having been at sea for the past two weeks, I've not been on the website. It would appear that everything is as rubbish as it was before I left. The number of posts on this snagging list thread suggests that CAMC need to start again from the beginning with an IT team that is at least halfway competent.
As they say about politicians, Nick Lomas should consider his position.
