What have they done?

I am staying at Exmoor house in Dulverton on my way down to Cornwall, tried booking a few days for our return journey, Warden couldn't do the booking ?? Said book directly, tried, massive queue, couldn't be bothered, waited until after midnight, then tried again, hurrah got through to new booking system, managed to enter my debit card details........guess what, they took the WHOLE amount, not just a deposit, I was fuming this new system is really terrible, as user friendly as an anti-personnel mine. The CMC is becoming a very Member unfriendly expensive, awkward joke.

"… utter waste of caravan club money"
That's our money, Freddy.

While waiting again for the second time today I put my old IT Supply Chain hat on and did a little digging. The queuing system is a Third Party Plug In from a Danish company called Queue.IT. So when you click Make a Booking it offloads you (their words not mine) to a waiting room on their servers and when there's capacity on the CAMC booking system you are then directed back. The capacity thresholds are set by CAMC. Lets hope that they have been set low as the new system beds in.
Still 15 mins to go.

Another consequence of the change over is the midweek discount on the sites that still offered it, is now listed under expired offers.
A stealth price rise to add insult to injury.

I daresay all the extra information required (if you can get it all in, in the allocated 20 minute slot) is to do with website algorithms, data that will help the club target us for whatever ads they include in the flyers of the club magazine etc, etc
If it ever works & I get to book anything, will just include myself & pay for any additional people when I arrive on site.....
I do this now with my grandchildren as circumstances may change from when I make the booking until the arrival dates.....

No don't, that book, and the precious paper map that came with it, plus a list of site phone numbers is a solid link to booking a site in the future, as the Website and Contact numbers are no longer fit for purpose. As for the App less said the better.

I reiterate just about all the discussion points made, it is very very poor indeed, massive failure leaving I guess pretty much every paying member frustrated at their attempts to book holidays.
I managed to book with someone on the phone this morning, needless to say having paid a £44 deposit I have had no e mail confirmation as promised, booked or not booked who knows.
When I managed to access the site I wanted to book it told me my dates are not available, so who has my money?? god knows.
I give up !!!

How many CLs are losing business over this as you can’t even view the listings. The best thing the club can do to try and salvage anything is to scrap the system immediately and book directly with the site till they get a proper system in place not a joke one . At least that way you know you will have a pitch for the night, at this rate they will loose more money than they make, not to mention loose members.

Ah……now you actually can browse the Sites, but whatever you do, don’t press the “book a site” red button. Scroll down a bit further, click on country you are interested in, then the County, then the Site. You will have to check closure dates as you go along. But there won’t be a lot open. Good luck🤞
This is page you want, just don’t press that red “book now” button, but scroll down further.

Not very impressed so far. Each attempt at booking has indicated the chosen site is full on the dates selected or closed. Can’t find a grid showing vacancies for a site. Only option I can find is to keep trying different dates on the booking screen. HELP

Why does none of this surprise me? As ever, an inability to facilitate excessive inebriation in an alcoholic beverage production emporium.

It might not like good old Anglo Saxon swear words JV🤣 Try swearing in French, or German, or Italian👍

Agreed, don't press the book site button...
I actually got in after 10 mins using the 'new' app...I could see my membership details, my old bookings etc...browse sites... yes, really....
then I tried a dummy booking....entered a few details about the van, number of people.....then zap...goodbye...after just a couple of minutes, not the 20 I should apparently get...
hmmmm, not good.

It’s not getting any better. No one responding from Club on Facebook now, no one replying to negative reviews on Trustpilot either. I don’t blame the front of house staff for beating a retreat frankly…….

This is a long thread so may have been mentioned before but, where are the CL prices and reviews? For me, these have a big influence on my choice, although even on the old website it always seemed to me that the club really does not want to promote CLs.
For a club booking, why do I have to give the name and, more to the point, DOB of other party members? I'm not booking a ferry for goodness sake.

You can still look for CLs, read the reviews for each CL. Just don’t click on the red “search and book” button, but scroll further down and pick your Country, then the Area/County, then the individual CL.
Or…..use search4sites website, lots are on there.

Wasted hours today adding 6 bookings to basket, then tried to pay deposit which was refused twice but then left whilst bookings were processed. After waiting for completion the message to say bookings failed appears and told to contact HQ on the regularly booking number which will not connect due to " unforseen amount of calls " Left in limbo until I can speak to someone tomorrow. Decided to check my credit card account and hey presto two deposits @ £365 shown as pending 😡 I cannot find the words to express my anger that would be allowed on here, sufficie to say the Club has been totally inept in the implementation of the new system which has obviously never been tested to the extent required.

You need to download the new app from the App Store...the old one causes the same error for everyone.

Thanks for that tip YT. I Deleted User old App, loaded new App, and at least it now shows our Membership cards.
How simple would it have been to send an email to the Membership asking them to do this🤷♀️

Thanks for your comment and I do appreciate that you can use the sequence that you have described but I do like to use the map search. For me, it offers a much better overview of a site's location in relation to the broader area, especially if I am away from my usual 'hunting' ground.

Well, I was going to book a couple of nights next week at Pembray (the dogs love it there) for £31pn but I have now booked the CCC Rhandirmwyn site instead (which they also love!). Grass, no EHU, over 60s discount £12.80pn (for two).
What's not to like?

There are maps of campsites galore on line - Search 4Sites, PitchUp, UK Campsite (for that one you can specify only show me Club Sites, CS and CL) and good old Google - so not need to rely on this club’s own map.
