MOT due on motorhome
HI all
We are new to Motorhoming as we recently purchased an elderly motorhome, the MOT is due in Oct can we take this to a car MOT place or do we need to look for a specialist? or can anyone recommend a MOT provider in Horsham West Sussex?

That depends whether a Class 4 or Class 7 MOT is needed. Most smaller MHs are Class 4 - same as a car, but larger ones might be Class 7 which would mean searching out a more specialised MOT station.
In the case of Class 4, car garages may not have hoists rated to lift the weight of even 3500kg MHs apart from not having the headroom so some shopping around could be necessary.

We certainly had a bigger MH that wasn’t class 4 but it was a long time ago. Perhaps the rules have changed since🤷🏻♂️.

The rules have indeed changed since we had a large MH, DD, and it doesn’t affect me now. However, we have no idea what size MH the OP has. I recall Triky's recent thread about changes which mean large vehicles are now subject to a different classification of test.
I expect the OP will be glad of your pointer towards DVLA👍🏻

Was he? I’m sure I read the same elsewhere too.
Well, I’m sure the OP will sort themselves out.

Your Motorhome is likely to be “Class 7” and that’s the simplest way to do an internet search for a local garage that has the height and can handle 3500 kg.
