I was staying at Hunters Moon Club Site at Wareham.  It was the day I was due to move on, I started my motorhome, and when I released the handbrake, the handbrake on warning light stayed on,  I restarted the vehicle, and the situation was the same.  I knew that the site was full and so I drove slowly to the car park.  The phone signal is weak at the site, and the battery on my phone was failing.  The warden Dawn, was more than helpful, and  I cannot thank her enough for her help.  She allowed me to use a landline to call Green Flag.  I was patting myself on the back, for my on going membership, especially for these sot of occasions.  i after a few minutes was put through to and assistant, I explained my problem to him, he asked had I used the on line help service?  I reiterate the situation regarding my phone, he spoke to the for me, and was informed that i would need to be recovered to a garage.

He then told me if I could find one he would arrange the recovery!  I explained to him that I understood that to be his role, he said no I had to find the garage, Dawn who also has Green Flag was flabbergasted by the response.  He was not prepared to budge on this.  I was embarrassed that , I was taking a member of the clubs team.  Having read an item re the RAC , i ran and asked if i joined would they be able, to help me?  The gent was totally helpful and I joined within two hours a technician was with me, and in a few minutes I was back on the road.

In my post at the time of arriving home, was my Green Flag renewal notice, for my Premium UK, cover, I shall not be renewing that, and wonder if an other club members have had similar experience?    The statement on the renewal note that covers this situation is No patrols, just the right response vehicle- A nationwide network means we send the right vehicle for your needs not just the nearest one.  This was totally not my experience, I have been a club member for over 45 years and used Mayday, thankfully infrequently for much of that time<

Not a good experience for you. We're with the RAC for breakdown insurance, it's not cheap but we hope it covers all areas.

Hi thanks for the response, you are so right and it is not until you test these things do you know.  My experience with the RAC was good, thankfully. I have written to both the club as a promoter of the service and Green Flag as the provider, I am just waiting to see if either responds to my messages/letters  Kind regards Chris

What a let-down! We have Green Flag Mayday. Did you contact Green Flag Mayday after this for a formal explanation? I contacted Green Flag Mayday recently to discuss my renewal, which had not renewed (different subject covered in another thread), and I was quite annoyed at the rudeness and unhelpful response of the person I spoke to. I sorted it out eventually by another means, but the rude response is something I will not forget.
