The regulation referred to a few posts ago is to do with when the UK was still a member of the EU. And concerned moving between EU States.  It is an archived regulation. The Europa website, quoted on the first page is definitive and explains clearly what you can and cannot take - ie no meat or dairy etc.

That said I was never searched or questioned when arriving in Spain earlier this year.

I was in a motorhome towing a trailer, so I did a Google search for a supermarket along my route and then had a look on Street View at the parking possibilities and found somewhere suitable not far from my first overnight stop.

Hi David, I can understand your comment but I plan all my stops making use of Google maps and Streetview.

I know which side the 24/24 pumps are and if there is a cafe should we wish to stop.

When we came over we did exactly the same as always-ran down the fridge, took what was left, some frozen bacon and butter and like most were not asked any questions about foodstuffs.

Having a quiet pre move day today following the local fish festival, complete with loud thumping music, if you can call it that, till 1am!

We went through the tunnel on 6th June and returned yesterday - at no time was anything checked other than passports.  I was mildly peeved after the palaver of the paper covid passes and the food !

We have just come back from a 6 week trip to Italy.  Nice to meet you Allan and Jean at Lake Trasimeno.  On way out no one checked for meat/dairy just the gas off check at the tunnel terminal. We had been law abiding citizens so had to shop first evening for essential items. On way back this morning straight through checks at Calais and were put on an earlier train.  Passports were stamped on way back.  Alan, after Trasimeno we spent a week at Lake Garda, it was baking hot with no breeze to make it bearable, it was also much busier than previous years and Camping Cisano was full!  Road works on A8 in Germany on Sunday but we were not held up. D & J.

    Buona sera David & Jenny!
Glad you have a safe return and like you have arrived to find a very busy Garda.

Was turned away from first site but second choice no problem. Seems the 3 year break has affected my planning and, as we usually come mid May to mid June totally unprepared for how busy it is having presumed once the Bavarian holidays finished it would be quieter-wrong!!

Also wrong to think it would be cooler further North but arrived to 38C and little breeze however, that’s changed and a thunderstorm is not far away now.

Wondered if you saw many Brits? We went into Peschiera today, saw no Brit cars or heard any English voices which is unusual.

    A&J.

Good to see you all are having lovely trips Abroad. Be good to see a few accounts of your trips with photos in the Story Section when you have a moment.

Alan.  Saw no Brit outfits at Garda - most unusual.  A Brit coach on a trip to Riva del Garda and a few Brit voices there but none near Bardolino.  Sirmione was packed!!  On trip home from Garda saw no Brits en route to Austria and Luxembourg, then a couple and about 30 Brit motor bikes!  Then very few Lux to Calais.  At overnight in Calais last night quite a few.  So, wonder where the Brits are going this year!  Met one guy last night who had been in a terrible hail storm near Angouleme and he says the roof of his caravan makes his Swift look like a Hobby!!  Must have a look at the roof of my caravan after the hail storm in Trasimeno on our last day there.

Apologies David as only just seen this post!

We were at Lago Trasimeno and left yesterday to come up to Garda and now at Camping San Benedetto.

Enjoyed Lago Trasimeno and site, Badaccia, was very good, especially as we got a front row lake view!
Having said that we saw many ignore the front row in favour of a more shaded pitch and with most days 34C could understand and it was 34C when we arrived here yesterday.

Jean says I am wishing my time away, as I have mentioned that maybe Lagos is an idea for 2023, but it’s just wan too busy here compared to our usual mid May visit time but, as I commented to Commeyras, down to my numptinss more than anything else!!
