Is it time to extend the quiet period to 8 am?

Well no surprise I'm with OP, I find 7am to early to be banging around trying to pack up, dragging water, waste and toilets around.
Why do folk keep opening and shutting the car doors and boot, just open door put stuff in and don't shut it until its loaded, same with the boot. There is no need to close 'bang' everytime you put something in 😠
Its alright saying just turn over and go back to sleep, I wish I was able to but once I've been so rudely woken up I'm in no mood to go back to sleep.
We've on occasion woken up to find empty pitches all around us but not in the UK. Only the other morning we woke up at 09.30 to find 3 vans around us gone, never heard a thing. Not even the 2 MHs starting their engines, so it can be done.
Much more laid back over here, no big rush to get away early doors, no water hog or waste master to empty, just the toilet but most carry them not drag them around.
Oh for the joys of life on a CAMC site 😂😂

Goodness, TG, you do sound unhappy.😕
We have often woken to find neighbours have left and not disturbed us and, yes, I’m talking UK.

It just requires folk to be considerate. A caravan is perhaps a little noisier to get going than a MH but it can be done with thought. Use a manual winder rather than a drill for the steadies and pull the waste master on the grass divides / carry back empty are just two actions that mitigate noise. In a MH it should be easier. We don’t actually need to get out, apart from disconnecting the EHU. Personally I would be against any fixed quite period, as it is unenforceable. Much better to try and educate. Possibly a period where the barrier is locked 22:00 to 7:00 would be a useful addition. I believe there are a few sites that do this already.

I’m going with the flow. So if you are in Brighton tomorrow morning, the tunes are going on from 7am and I will be singing along.
Happy holidays

It is not just caravanners that can be annoying but M/H owners too, especially those with PVCs that insist on sliding their doors back and forth every couple of minutes for what seems hours on end, and those that run their engines for ages before setting off. Why not wait till one is ready to go then just start the engine and drive away. Some tow car owners are just as bad at that too.

Thanks, David 😎

I think the 'flow' said something about showing consideration for others, MFMcC 😀

A rather puzzling reply, who has said anything about putting on tunes and singing, unless you wish to emulate a monastic way of life that hasn't been done for hundreds of years and/or cause the very same behaviour you disagree with? If it's something you are complaining about about why join in?
Why not just go with the rules as posted?
PS where did you get this idea about quiet time being till 7am?

Hi, Come to this late however it seems to me that, as I believe has been mentioned, it is all about consideration for others.
I don't think that anyone who is likely to cause a noise nuisance to their fellow campers will take any notice of the "rules". They either know they are there, and just ignore them, or are not even aware they exist.
A few years ago on a CMC rally we were awoken at 4am by, what turned out to be, three vehicles with their engines running as their owners, a family group, hitched up trailers and vans and yet, other occasions have woken to find neighbours departed with, so far as we knew, not a peep.

There are 1,000s of other noises that will be heard early morning when at a caravan site. Taking down an awning or doors closing are probably the least of them. Many sites are near fairly busy roads so traffic will be heard from very early hours as folk go off to work. Some sites are near railway lines, many CLs are on farms with their attendant early morning noise be it cattle calling or tractors moving about. Not least of all is bird song which starts as soon as it becomes light. So no, it isn't possible or desirable to try to stop noise before 8.00am. My suggestion is get some ear plugs.

I agree with this 100%.
One thing to add though: some have referred to other noises, natural or man made, over which we have no control such as trains at Berwick, planes at Edinburgh, road noise, bird song, farmyard noise etc. They seem to want to make the case that these noises somehow trump the need for campers to show consideration in the noise they make. If planes are possibly going to wake people up, this gives them the right to make as much noise as they like. I disagree.
These are unavoidable noises and, as I once posted elsewhere, I find I am immune to them, whilst, as I have no shame or compunction in freely admitting, I am easily enraged by very-late-night al fresco or in-awning gatherings or early departures who fail to depart with reasonable quiet and consideration for others or those who play music or their TV very loudly. I sometimes leave sites, far from home, as early as 6am and I would resist any rule (or much worse locked gates) that prevented it, but my routine to achieve this with almost zero noise is well established and well regimented so that, I very much hope and believe, I would be among those that allanandjean would be surprised to see gone on rising. I would be content for someone to put me to the test if they find this hard to believe.

I thought that the quiet time was, generally, 10pm to 7am and it's also like this on most commercial sites. Regardless of the time I go to bed I'm always up before 7 but generally don't leave the van unless it's to take the dogs out. I think those quiet hours are fine.
Don't forget that many caravanners have young children and it might be difficult to keep them quiet after 7am or even before 7am in some cases. It also seems to be the case that the quieter you try to be the noisier you become accidentally.

How would it be applied to birds on the site ?

It all depends on how noise tolerant you are ,some seem to think anything above a leaf being stood on is an invasion of their right to quiet
Luckily for us anything less then a missile strike by Putin is normally OK1 -
We are not early risers, usually, but are not often disturbed by others, who act in a considerate manner.
As said, carry your empty Aquaroll/Wastemaster/toilet cassette, full ones are not so noisy.
Use the grass instead of the road.
Do not keep opening and banging shut doors, especially sliding ones, leave them a tiny bit ajar, and be considerate.
If leaving fairly early, which we have done a few times, we would have everything packed up the night before, especially the awning, no need to be noisy at 7am, or even 8am. Even if not leaving early, the awning comes down the evening before, unless soaking.
In the past, we have woken to find neighbours gone, without us hearing anything, but we have also had the loud voices, slamming slidy doors and MH engines left running early morning. Just plain inconsiderate IMO.

The vibes given off from your post about your experiences, perhaps?
I'm not sure what weather, prices, pools and places have to do with early morning noise but it’s good you’re happy and having a great time👍🏻

Very much like us, pack up as much as we can the night before if leaving before mid morning.
In a week's time we will be up at 6am along with dozens of others to catch a ferry. We will all be leaving the site around 7am, if it goes like the many times we've done this in the past, there will hardly be a sound and yes I have been on the site when others have done this and slept through it.
What is noise to one person isn't to another. I don't mind trains, planes, road noise, animals, birds etc but loud music, loud tv's, loud voices, banging doors etc do bother me. These noises are man made and can be controlled with a bit of consideration, its the lack of that which really annoys me.

AD, this is the 3rd day you &/or TG have posted re ‘overseas’ & made unfavourable comparisons to C&MC sites & its Patrons. It’s unfair & it causes animosity followed by deletions. We all know you both are not fans of C&MC sites but some of us are. No one denigrates European Holidays in the Overseas section. It would be helpful for you two to be as respectful. No offence intended but it is becoming wearisome☹️

As an insomniac I would say we don't need more rules, just more consideration for others.
