If the Tredegar site is anywhere as bad for noise as the Durham site is it is definitely one that we shall avoid.
You've heard how bad I am at sleeping Nellie. Well I can honestly say that I slept wonderfully well at Tredegar House when we stayed there. This amazed Mrs.WN so much that she had me looking at houses on dual carriageways when we returned home!
I can't explain it. A dog barking 2 miles away can wake me up yet I can sleep through a thunderstorm if it comes along early enough into my sleep yet I slept well at Tredegar and even once slept surprisingly well on a motorway services in Kent.
I've often found that the quietest time on a club site is round about 3-4 pm. Sometimes it's bliss.

Our plan for our next trip is to "sit around and do nothing" sometimes if you're very busy at home or at work this is the aim of a holiday..not always but it can be a possibility. We won't be on a club site and there won't be any mowers (hopefully!

Just shows how different we all are😁 We have used Durham a few times, always pitch up at the bottom of the Site, and don’t find it noisy at all, although, as I say, we are out in daytime. Tredegar, we liked the Site, but you could hear the really loud road noise all the time.

I think lots of people do spend a lot of time sitting in or around their LV's on sites. For many it seems its the change of scenery that seems to matter. I do tend to agree that it can be more comfortable at home! Like you the purpose of going away in our motorhome is to explore where we stay assuming reasonable weather, but if is not so good we do tend to stick around the van or limit ourselves to shorter excursions near the site. We don't beat ourselves up if we can't achieve everything we wanted to, always a good excuse for a return visit! Likewise we don't seek solitude as there is noise everywhere which is often difficult to ignore. Traffic noise can be annoying, surprised no one has mentioned Chester Fairoaks? What I liked about Seaview, other than the lovely views, was the expectation of an approaching train as you get that zing in the railways line before the train appears.

It's funny you should say that David.
It's our nearest site probably and we used it late one year for the first time and found the motorway noise excessive, so much that I vowed never to return. Well I'm not much good at keeping vows,😇, so we went back late last year for a few nights and lo and behold found it fine. I think there was a problem with a lack of lorries about that time. Not sure I'll try a tie breaker though.

Would agree with you there, we have used Durham a few times and haven't had a problem but Tredegar is on another level.
Chester Fair Oaks wasn't a problem either. Even Edinburgh with the planes going over us didn't bother me, the dogs barking on the estate behind the site was a different matter.

But how can it be change of scenery when one is sat all day with same view, looking at row upon row of LVs?
In response to AD, when are the site managers supposed to cut the grass? There would be even more complaints if they started doing it at 16:00 and continued until midnight, I'm sure.

I don’t even have a TV in my caravan, so tend to sit out in the peace and quiet under my fairy lights as everyone else seems to be sat indoors glued to the Gogglebox - and taking notes of any noises outside.

Once a fortnight is adequate. I never can understand the relentless war on nature as warders furiously resist any attempt by the grass to look like anything but an immaculately manicured bowling green.
And all the mowers should be changed for battery powered ones. Very quiet, no emissions.

They might be slightly quieter, but not a lot. At least not the ones I have seen. It is the action of grass cutting and blowing the cuttings into the receiver that makes the noise. I suppose you could not collect the cuttings, which would be quieter, but if only cut every two weeks would look a right mess and get traipsed into vans.

That’s easy, you always leave your outside shoes on the step before entering the caravan.
s good mower will mulch the cuttings and leave no significant fallout. But we digress, leave the grass alone, scatter large quantities of native flower seeds, it looks very nice camping in a wild flower meadow.

Unless we know a lot more about individuals its an impossible question to answer. Is it possible that some of those that do live in the middle of large cities and just like being out in the fresh air of a campsite as change? An observation would also be that quite a few that sit around on sites tend to be older retired, some with obvious mobility issues, so perhaps they are happy just to have a change of scenery. Who could blame them? Perhaps for some its the equivalent of having a static caravan but with the option of being able to move to different locations. When we were both at work we enjoyed our "doing nothing" weekends at a campsite, often not far from where we live just to de-stress. Likewise when we used to spend a couple of months in Europe if we were on a site next to the Med we tended to be lazier than say touring in Germany or Austria. In this country it is more likely to be rain that forces us not to do anything rather than hot weather, unfortunately. We all enjoy our hobby in different ways.

We belong to the "sit around all day doing nothing" group.
That's what we want to do on holiday - nothing. We live in the country with views and ambience much better than any CAMC site (and yes, I know other sites are available). My husband works 13-14 hours a day, mainly outside, so a holiday is to do nothing (except sleep, eat, drink, read and watch the world (however restricted the view) go by - without passing judgement on others. I don't feel the need to explore nearby attractions, and relish the opportunity of not having to make plans.
We're off tomorrow - first break away since last August - five days of nothingness. Bliss.
I realise this comment has wandered from the "noise" topic, but I felt minded to speak up on behalf of the maligned "surely you don't go on holiday to sit around all day" contingent.

Brue hit the nail on the head. If your everyday life is stressful or physically demanding, it’s a real treat just to chill out, even if on-site. We used to have four weeks in Cornwall every Summer, and always enjoyed the odd day on our gorgeous CL, just sat in the sunshine nature watching or reading. Mind, that was always with at least two (proper) dog walks a day, and doing the physical chores like water and waste, so we were never totally without some form of joint or heart stimulant. I still like to do this occasionally on CLs, but don’t find Club Sites to my taste for sitting out much. Too busy, noisy, not private enough. Unless it’s somewhere like North Ledaig, or Carradale, New England Bay…..
Spring and Autumn breaks were for doing, trekking the coastal paths, climbing the hills. Looking for lost castles……

We have never stayed Goldie, but we drove past returning up the coast after a visit to Logan Gardens. It does look a lovely Site, our kind of Club Site, superb views and a nice set up with unregimented pitches. We have stayed at Carradale on Kintyre, again stunning views, and all grass pitches. Mind, we had the whole place to ourselves, as we were a family group staying in the log cabins, owners Colin and Lorraine are friends of my SIL and her OH.
Hope you are having a good time. Love the selling of the cow before you set off, we usually found ourselves delivering rare breed chicken eggs to Cornwall for drop off, but thankfully nothing clucking or flapping🤣
