Hi All,

We're planning a month long tour in France culminating with 2 weeks at Camping Le Brasilia in Canet on the Med. We've read the reviews which are good but would like some more information. Is there a supermarket near the site do you know, once pitched we don't move our Motorhome so need a supermarket close by that we can restock food & drink etc. Also there are 3 different areas to pitch on with the most expensive being closest to the beach. Apart from the distance to the beach are the most expensive pitches worth the extra. Any other information regarding Le Brasilia would be great. Thanks.

I have heard of that site but never stayed. On the point about shopping, the larger sites like Le Brasilia tend to have quite decent supermarkets on site. They won't be as cheap as the large hypermarkets and the selection won't be as good but you could probably manage. A look at Google Earth/Maps will identify other shops nearby.

We stayed there many years ago before it was a Yelloh Village site but even then it had good shopping facilities so I would imagine its OK now but probably not the cheapest.

If you are going out of high season do you use ACSI camping discount card at participating campsites?

I have stayed in the area for many years as its so lovely down there. The area does get strong winds (Tramontane) that can bring sandstorms along the beaches, which of course is like a sand blaster and clears the beach in seconds! One year made a mess of my cars glass windows on one side whilst sheltering at the side of a beach restaurant. Beach wear doesn't protect you much!   Window covers help but can still damages paintwork. A few rows back would offer protection.

There is a fruit and vegetable roadside shop Le Potager on the corner of Bd de las Bigues and Rte de la Crouste

    Bakers,  Boulangerie Morgant - Bakery
    52 Bd de las Bigues
    66140 Canet-en-Roussillon
    France

1.1 miles Intermarché SUPER Canet en Roussillon et Drive - Hypermarket
    Boulevard Las Bigues ZA
    66140 Canet-en-Roussillon
    France

During the busier season there used to be a small passenger boat at the harbour entrance.

A great site if you are going past Limoges is municipal site at Aixe sur Vienne, Camping Municipal Les Greves - Campsite
    Prom. des Grèves
    87700 Aixe-sur-Vienne
France       Its a short walk up into the town for the shops an fuel there is also a nice china shop next to the site, made in the factory

If the weather is good and your on the A75 this is well worth a stop as has great views

Rest area Garabit - Motorway services  A75
    15320 Ruynes-en-Margeride
    France

DONT SLEEP AT NIGHT IN SERVICE STATIONS OR AIRES !!!! as I was broken into after something was sprayed through the open roof vent, Slept thorough my mobile phone alarm under my pillow for an hour, Carcassonne North services right outside the back entrance, forcing a lock is easy for them even in motorhomes. I was the first one that year, the police do set traps to catch people but its a cat and mouse game.

    Hope your trip goes well.

I'm of soon to Argeles sur mer. Le Dauphin. Rte de Taxo à la mer, 66700 Argelès-sur-Mer, France  1.5 miles to shop and further to the beach but an excellent site
