Austrian Vignette

Hi Guys, We will be travelling North from Italy into Austria, A22-A13 this year and wonder if anyone who has done this can advise on a suitable location for a stop with car & van to purchase?
We are leaving from Peschiera Del Garda, and would rather buy sooner than later, but no idea how close you have to get to the border before they are available.
Google maps shows an Esso filling station at Trens Ost but next is an OMV just over the border so wondering if its OK to buy there or must it be before the border??
Thanks.

The Service Stations on the approach to the border will sell them. I would have thought that the website would list places where they are sold? You could always buy one from Tolltickets before you go. They are very convenient. Ok they will charge a bit more than the face value but its an easy process.

Hello Alan
There’s a relatively new and very large service area near the top of the Brenner (Brenero) pass at the Plessi Museum. It’s a few miles south of the Austrian border. You should have no problem parking there even at the weekend when the lorries are refted up.
We’ve often obtained a vignette there before entering Austria. As others have said, the outlets selling the vignettes are well signed, especially as you near the border.

I previously used this website & sure I only paid face value!
If using the A13 Brenner motorway there are additional charges

I was surprised at the comment that a digital vignette costs double. I can’t find any evidence for that and the price seems to be the same as a windscreen sticker. Is that so?
But the drawback of a digital vignette is that it must be bought at least 18 days in advance and isn’t valid till those 18 days have elapsed. That really is curious. I can’t plan so far ahead !

Hi All, Many thanks for the replies, so far, and looks like best bet is to do a “drive through” when getting close to the border but will do some more research, oh, OK, Googling!
If we were certain/sure/positive about travel dates the digital may have been an option but we aren’t, so it isn’t.
Euror, checked price just before posting.

EDIT-Found the ASFINAG toll shop! As you can also pay the Brenner toll that’s us sorted.
Thanks.

Hi David, As above will wait till dates are set in stone then probably buy online but as we are travelling midweek probably wont have an issues if we do need to stop and buy.
Not used the Brenner before, so thought we would give it a try, as we were with our MH buddies and he did not want to use the GoBox. We went via the Fern & Riesa passes and very enjoyable it was too.
