Tow car change

Hi , Our first post so please be kind!

Our trusty old 2.0 Mondeo is due to be changed in the near future. It's been faultless as a tow car and as a solo driver. It's going to be a hard act to follow.

Our dilemma is we're looking at the Tuscon/ Sorento (1.7ltr) 2wd or alternatively a Nissan Qashqai (1.6ltr) as a possible replacement, and we don't know anything about their towing characteristics. The caravan is mtplm at 1400k.

Has anyone had any experience of towing with any of these? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

                                                                                             Thanks,

Geoff &Sue

Do you mean Sportage rather than Sorento? If you mean Sorento then it, and it's kissing cousin Hyundai SantaFe, is a great tow car.

Have you searched for on line reviews? There are many available.

Sportage and the kissing cousin , Tuscon preferably.

The online reviews I've seen don't seem to give much feedback regarding towing with the 1.7 diesels. I realise that they're slightly underpowered than what the model has to offer.

For a caravan of MTPLM 1400Kg it should be fine.

I would avoid the Nissan Qashqai [Cashcow]. It is a very popular car with a high number of sales, but reliability problems are high. Check out reviews on the likes of Whatcar.

Likewise the Nissan Extrail [Entrail]. Once an excellent car it's also showing reliability issues which is a shame.

I towed with a 2013 Qashqai for a couple of years - it was the 1.6 AWD version. No issues whatsoever with the car and would get 60+ mpg on long journeys solo. It was an equally able tow car - you get a lot of bang for your bucks so to speak.
