Border crossing from Spain to Portugal, & reverse

Hi,

off to Spain via Plymouth-Santander in a couple of weeks, down to Cadiz area and then over to Portugal. Three weeks there, up to Porto, then crossing back again heading towards Santander.

Anyone have recent experience of Spain-Portugal crossings, and any required paperwork? Or rules/restrictions?

    Can’t comment on Portugal but two members of my family have returned from Spain (Gibraltar) in recent weeks one via France and one via Santander - absolutely straightforward in both cases, no checks at French/Spanish border. Wouldn’t expect Portugal to be any different, just make sure you’ve got current vaccination certificate. Don’t forget to register for the toll system in Portugal on entry, assuming you’ll be using it?

    Customs were checking every MH at Portsmouth so slow transit
