Booking a campsite through the ACSI app
Hi, has anyone used the ACSI app to book a site - using the ‘booking’ tab/button within the app?
when I try it, I select the dates I want, click on the tab that comes up below for that date and it takes me to a page to complete the booking, showing the next day as the start day. E.g. if I want 25th to 27th April, I click on 27th April and the next page shows the dates I’m booking as 28th to 30th.
am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else experienced this?
many thanks!

Just realised I made a mistake in my previous post, I meant to say if I want 25th to 27th, I click on the 25th and the booking comes up,as 26th-28th. Sorry, I realise it’s not a very clear explanation! All I can say is it’s not very easy to describe.

Hi Derwa, you might well be the first person who has ever tried to book an overseas site for late April - no wonder the system is confused. If they are actually open already just go there. Enjoy the freedom.

Thanks Eurotraveller. (We never book either, and we do indeed enjoy the freedom but there was a reason why I was checking it out on the app)
For anyone who wants to know the answer to the question I asked, I contacted ACSI who suggested my app might have a glitch and suggested I do it through their website instead. I think the reason why my app was misbehaving was about screen size and the way the app was configured to work on a different size screen, it meant the dates weren’t lining up properly when I looked at it.
Thanks again.

As ACSI is off-season it would be quite surprising to find a site without space. Never happened to us and we never book but I guess there’s a first time!

hitcthglitch, I think things might be changing for 2022. I decided to wing it for our ACSI June /July trip into NL. I've planned a route and bookmarked groups of sites along the way making "long lists". My plans changed a few weeks ago when I checked and found sites getting booked up. I looked again yesterday and of the 6 sites I'd identified in one area they were now showing availability on just two of them, so I've booked in advance. If you want to stay a week or so on one site I rally would advise having a good look now. If in a motorhome and only spending a few days in one place then availability would not appear to be an issue.

Hi hitch, We have twice been turned away from our favourite site in Italy in mid May ish.
This was in the days Camping Cheques, but in same way AD is seeing lots in sites now, this was due to the Bavarian holidays and we now plan around them. Our last stay there followed a 4 day stay in Austria to time our arrival to coincide with the end of these German holidays.
Site staff said we were lucky to get places as they had been full so this years trip has been amended after discovering these holidays again clash with our planned arrival at Garda.

Because we now have a 8.24 metre (albeit single axle) long caravan, I was slightly concerned about availability of big enough pitches on some Spanish sites in May/June, whereas with the previous slightly smaller van we never booked ahead. So in last week or two, I did email a few where there was no online booking system. All replied saying no need to book, just turn up.
Sounds like they are not anticipating any unusual demand.

The Italian lakes are always popular with Germans as the area is very accessible and with the staggered school holidays it is easy to get caught out in May or June, however, we try to arrive early and have never been turned away. One of the many reasons for touring in Europe rather than the UK is the availability of sites without booking so we won’t be changing our habit. In fact, we rarely booked even in August when caravanning with the children although we avoided areas like the Med where booking has always been essential.
