Swift Shower Wall Crack
Hi, this probably is not the first time this has had a mention so apologies if this has come up before but I have a 10 cm crack in the wall of the shower just above the tray. Has anyone had experience of a repair of their shower and can offer some advice. One caravan technician suggests a plastic weld but thinks it will crack again, another to replace the whole wall but thinks they are no longer available. The caravan is out of warranty so I don't want to spend more than I need to!

Hi EdQ. Here’s a surprising option straight from the aviation industry.
When skinning foam core wings (read shower wall) after glass mat has been wet stuck onto the core, it’s rolled down to its minimum thickness. Then, while still wet, peel ply is rollered on top. When dry, the ply is peeled off, leaving a sensibly flat, smooth surface.

So, stick a strip of glass mat in place (ideally woven rovings) squeeze out any liquid, roll on peel ply and peel it off when dry. In aviation they use epoxy resins, not polyester as is found in car body fillers and boats. Epoxy is less likely to affect plastic panels too.
