But some of us don't have a printer at home as it wouldn't get used enough for it to be of any value. We also tour for weeks in end not to a set pattern so don't exactly know where we might be from one week to another so having vouchers in a booklet would allow us to have a ready access to those appropriate to our location.

Having randomly looked through a selection of the offers in the link provided by Brue it seems for the majority of the offers you have to download the vouchers so I imagine a printer would be essential with the current system. Some of them you can just download a code which you could either note down or show on your phone. Increasingly this will be the way that such offers will work. Whether they revert to a printed book might depend on how successful the current presentation of the offers works but increasingly, I imagine, we will see less and less paper products produced.

I've just tested three venues for Devon, two with 15% off and another with 20% off. Two required pre-bookings using a downloaded code and the third a downloaded voucher. I would think the majority of members now have some sort of digital access and printer's aren't needed, vouchers and tickets can be shown on a phone.
No doubt there will be some without access and previously they could ask for the booklet via a phone call but everyone else will be able to manage the discounts on a smart phone.

Last summer we were staying in the Lakes and booked tickets online for a trip on the Ullswater Steamer.
The instructions said to print your ticket, which clarly we could not do, but on arrival the staff said that was not necessary-they had no answer to my question as to why they still stated that in the conditions.

NOT everyone is on monthly contract with internet included, anyone like me who is retired and at home most of the day may have pay as you go =NO internet from your mobile

You can have mobile data with pay & go and I did that for years until I saw the light. Now I pay £8 p/m for a package which gives me 10gb of data and unlimited calls/texts. (Cheaper deals are available.) I find it’s well worth it despite being retired and at home most of the time.
If we have a use for the data, as Steve described, then we do it but the decision to pay a small sum to gain convenience is entirely yours.

That’s a personal choice and depends on what value you put on being able to get online, more or less anywhere. I am also retired and at home a large part of the year.. Initially we had one contract, one pay as you go, both had internet provision. Pay as you go does not mean no internet. Now we have two contract phones on different networks, as we find it better value. Alternatively you could purchase a MiFi at a fairly low cost and just get a pay as you go data SIM.

That’s sneaky. Do you know if it takes double data when used over there, or is the other 12gb still available to use in the UK. For us that would be acceptable as we also do a tour here. We have an old MiFi for which I buy a SIM when going to Europe to give us a few more gb.

For years I used Virgin pay as you go which was good because you just paid for the calls you used, no monthly charge. However that was when phones just did calls and text and not really the internet. Since having a Smart Phone it is a bit pointless just using it for calls, I am not even sue you can use it just for calls. I pay about £11 a month for 20gb of data which rolls over if unused. Its probably a bit excessive for what I actually use so I could reduce the price I pay. Like many I have given up on Club WiFi which whilst good value for the annual pass if it works. I find using my phone data much more reliable when in the van as I can just use the phone or tether it to my laptop.

I use Giff Gaff, no roaming charges and you can adjust what you require on a mothly basis or top up if you exceed your allownace. Currently I pay £10 per month for 15Gbs which is more than enough for all my requirements. I sometime reduce it during the winter months when we are not away so much.

I was sitting in the car waiting for OH to appear from a shop and the post took so long to upload that I just gave up and supposed that it never arrived. Thanks for informing. The 12gb and any add-on will be enough for our use together with Mrs WNs allowance on a monthly EE plan we have.

Much easier to have a booklet in your bag as not everywhere has internet or even phone signal.

Folks might be interested in Lebara network. Offers big data allowances at a small price. It was designed primarily to offer connectivity to refugees, migrants, overseas workers. I think it is part of Vodaphone. OH decided to give it a try as he wanted more data. No contract, you can vary what you pay/what data you need on a monthly basis. OH has been using it since before Xmas, and it’s been really good he says. No problems with watching MOTD online when away😁 He is using it with a new model iPhone and tethering his iPAd. We haven’t used it, but supposed to be good on international calls.
