Don't forget members of the CCC have for the last two years had this 13.00hrs arrival time,and with the issues it brings.
The queue's at the reception,even Devizes site we were lining up into the small approach road well after 13.00hrs and Keswick with its long approach lane,we must of been 20th in the queue,and this was a Tuesday, goodness knows what a Friday must be like.
To me it creates this bottleneck now of arrivals rather than drip feeding from say from 12.00hrs. I find myself looking at the sat nav to see arrival times when touring,also I find myself hanging around the storage site before setting off.Going away now just for a weekends, especially low season are hardly worth it.And the people it is probably bought in to help ie site staff get all this flack.
Yes you will always get early arrivals,someone has to be first,and as SteveL says he pulls in to a shop for an hour in his motor home,but it is just not that easy with a van on the back.
As you can see it may only be 60 minutes ,but to me, I find it,it feels like 2 hours difference.

I can see the logic of 13.00 arrival at sites with restricted access, Chatsworth & Cheddar are two we have used
For the others if the arrival time is being pushed to 13.00 then surely the departure time can also be pushed to 13.00
Or is this another way for the club to save 50p in electricity costs?
Do they employ someone to think up these annoying changes just to wind everyone up?

Perhaps the reasoning is to give site staff a lunch/rest break? Has there been some rationalisation of site staff to save money? As always with our wonderful Club they seem very much behind the curve when it comes to keeping us informed and giving us an explanation for the reason why they do things. As Dawn suggests we can all understand why some sites with difficult access need to do things slightly differently but it is much less clear where access is not the issue. It is my view that if you keep people informed they are more willing to accept things, even if they are to their disadvantage, but lack of information breeds discontent.

One of the main reasons why we use CLs, which 9 times out of ten will accommodate you if you happen to be a bit early. Some even don't mind you turning up mid morning, especially the well established ones. New ones tend to follow the club line.

The official arrival/departure time at Bonterra Park is 17:00.....however, no one takes the blindest bit of notice and arrivals start from 10:00 ish with departures anytime after 08:00.
seems odd that one of the fullest winter sites with a very high churn rate can accommodate incoming vans and departing campers (who need bills raising for pitching and electric) at all times of the day without batting an eyelid....
i wonder what the clubs reason for the change is, beyond standardisation of a time that's at least an hour too late for most.
PS if I was in the area (rather than driving the longish distance from home) and was visiting Concierge Camping I would call them and ask to arrive earlier. I'm fairly confident that, if there was a vacant pitch, I would be allowed on.

Is Bontera Park in the UK BB? This is the UK touring section and discussing the club so I can't see what relevance it has and why you like bring in European sites to any discussion about over here. It's like asking why is coffee here so much expensive in a cafe here than in Italy (about 2 to 3 times the price). Who knows we have to deal with what we have.

Really? that is an amazing statement How do you know this statements, too late for most? For all club site users? You really can know that? What are you basing it on?
It's not even an hour too late for most people on this thread. All people are complaining about is that as always we're the last to know.
I'm sure if you rang a club site that might be allowed too btw - some have posted and done it I recall. Some of course just arrive early (a selfish practice I think you called it even with ringing ahead) and are let on anyway.
But really that's not the point, your gold standard Concierge camping has out by 11 and not on till 2pm and it's showing full at times which means it will be enforced so that must be by your own comments another hour too late for most?
I'll be in the lakes tomorrow and I've just looked a few nearby large sites and apart from being far more expensive than the club site both have arrival times of 2pm (another two hours too late) and off by 10 am.

Tut tut !! BB, you know full well the business model is very much different, Bonterra Park full time reception staff no cleaning duties etc, much the same as many commercial sites in the UK. Never stayed on this particular site but did walk round to check it out once

In my mind far easier if the 1.00 arrival is standard for all sites so there cannot be any excuse whatsoever for early arrivals. For our main trips it usually means at least a four hour journey so 12.00 arrival is often a push anyway.

And I'm not bothered either way, we aim to get there by about 2pm anyway nowadays.
There's more to a holiday than arrival times.

Well, there's something we agree on, Bill. I've never understood why folk get so exercised by this subject. Surely one just accepts what the provider requires and adapts to it. I mentioned upthread that we are soon going to a cottage where the arrival time has been changed from 3pm to 5pm - we will just have a (more) leisurely pub lunch, go for a walk and then turn up at the designated time. I could phone and ask for "special" treatment, but why would I?

I think they need to sort out variable toilet block cleaning times. Where it’s 11am or later I’ll happily have a leisurely morning - lay in, watch the breakfast news, do Wordle, faff about, drink plenty of tea and just about get off site by 12noon, or better still 1pm. Where it’s 10am (or heaven forebid earlier) I’m effectively forced off site early and more likely to turn up early and join the masses queuing at the next place.

Yes, it depends on the site SB - single set of warden sites usually have them in the morning, although I've never know any before 10 and it's usually 10.30 in my travels? On some larger sites that have two toilets blocks you'll get staggered times and often one block done in the afternoon.
On single set or warden sites they had to be done in order to open up for 12 arrivals, now it's 1pm that could change?

Not so easy to do with a caravan though. We had to stop in a layby on our last but one change as we had to be off Beecraigs before 12:00 but couldn't get onto Balbirnie till 1:00. Not a pleasant 15 mins with the amount of lorries roaring past.

No they are not, some are and some are complaining about backing to wait until 13:00 to book in, I for one. You comment on other using the "all" in their posts when they mean some or many, yet you do the same yourself, a bit hypocritical that I would say.

Ok calm down nellie, I should have said most are complaining of not being told, so full apologies all round. And to be strictly honest I just saw one poster talking about the possibility of this backing to book in, was there more? if so apologies again. And I didn't comment on anyone saying all, it was most of all site users? Have a go at that if you wish. I don't claim to speak for most or even all site users.

Is that all sites except Edinburgh? - which says arrivals have changed from 0900 to 1000 now.
And what’s the latest at Coniston? Is that still 1000 too.
But at sites like Plymouth Sound, where the wardens have no toilets to clean, visitors have to wait outside until 1300? Yes ?

It's complicated isn't it, the small sites sometimes operate with single team managers and we don't know if this makes a difference to their time management?
I suppose the exceptions where there are larger management teams times can be adjusted much more easily. But as there's been no general information given out I'm just guessing.

I cannot help but think that the Sites are operated for the convenience of the Club rather than for the majority of visitors.🤔 Ferry Meadows was a strange experience last week. Firstly, we had huge problems getting booked in, as the central booking system was down. Tried phoning the Site direct, nope, they are not accepting calls. So I had to try and try each hour on the online system. (We were wanting to arrive following day). Arrival day, we roll up at the now double barriered gates at around 2pm, no one else waiting. First barrier has a call point which phones the reception. After a muffled few questions, barrier opens and you progress to second barrier. Then it’s one out and into reception, two staff on duty in there. Usual run through (despite the fact we have been before, but you go with it😉) Bundle of paper to take away, and a promise to return to reception with pitch number. Can I phone it in? No, they don’t answer the phone. Seems this is only for calls from the first barrier🤷♀️ Was their booking system down previous day? No, but you couldn’t phone to book as they don’t pick up the phone in reception🤷♀️ So, we progress through the second barrier, set up, and then I walk back to reception to pick up a barrier card (generic but has that all important handwritten pitch number on it)
There has to be a more 21st Century method of arrival, surely, that could be of benefit to both visitors and site staff🤔

The commercial site I visited earlier this month was booked and paid online, admitted by ANPR with zero contact with anybody. Slick or what?
I was looking at another small commercial's website who had a "any time after 09:00, leave when you like up to 20:00" policy.
Until CAMC enter the 21st century and dispense with the "any colour you like so long as it's black" mindset, we will continue to encounter arrival/departure issue, refusal of "dump & fill" use and no EHU opt out options.
Customer focused - not a chance.
