Hillhead Facilities

I note that the promoted facilities at Hillhead will not be open until May 17th. The bar, restaurant and shop will be closed until this date. Afterwards the bar and restaurant are limited to Weds-Sun openings.

The cost for two adults staying over Easter on a basic EHU pitch is £49.60p but there is no information that the facilities won't be open. A PDF link has to be opened to discover more but there is no info about doing this.

I'm putting this on here as I feel visitors should be informed openly in advance, many pay higher fees at this site to enjoy what's on offer. I don't think the lack of facilities should be hidden away. Hillhead doesn't offer anything in it's immediate vicinity to compensate eg shops or eating out.

As we're booked in for a short break before Easter I re-checked our booking and there is no info on there except to state  the shop opening hours. However on the PDF the shop is closed till May 17th!

I wonder if CAMC can clarify this, would somebody kindly report my post and I will look forward to a response.

    Thanks smile

Just looked at the link (elsewhere) and this seems to refer to 2021 rather than this year.

Likewise, the Entertainment and Christmas schedules seem to be for last year. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's a bit confusing Jill. Unfortunately the pdf I looked at didn't have a date, the entertainment schedule is for 2021 and hasn't been updated. I feel the information in general is muddled and out of date for anyone considering a visit.

Thanks JVB. I put the info on in case anyone else was going and hadn't noticed. It doesn't affect us too much although it would be good to know the actual dates for the complex to be open and if the shop is out of action or not.

If the club doesn't respond I might ring the site and put an update on here.

Seems to me the club are determined to recoup the lost revenue during the pandemic

The fact most of us continued to pay our yearly membership even when the sites were closed has meant nothing to the club

The other club extended the membership last year to say thanks but CMC nothing

This year all sites seem to have had dramatic price increases.  We were booked on Moreton in Marsh over Easter but having just returned today from a weekend I refuse to pay £38.00 per night for a standard pitch with two adults,

The work they have done on site is very sub standard, yes they have improved some pitches but mostly to convert them to serviced pitches which they then charge more for.  The roads around the site are still very poor and flood easily.  Part of the site was very much a building site but they still sold pitches so people were arriving Friday with no option but to pitch in the area, then they have closed the toilet block so if you are that side come tonight you have to walk to the other end of the site to use the facilities.

I think this is very poor planning from the club and surely a business as big as they are should be able to organise site improvements in a better way.

I have now booked a private site with equal amenities but at £25.00 per night so over four nights a saving of £52.00, enough to pay for another trip out

Reported your post Dawn. I doubt that anyone from HO will bother to explain the situation as they see it.

As has been told to me ,the club directors seem on a "dash for cash" to try to get as much back from the covid losses even though there is a large increase in membership and still this year" staycations,"undecided

I didn't use a single club site last year. With prices like that, I shan't be rushing to use one this year either.

Very misleading Dawn, yes the other Club did extend their membership which roughly equated to all of £12.00,don't forget nearly 9 sites where closed and "my" extension went from November to February.

At least what this Club did with the Site vouchers gave a cash incentive,in which I wished I had made even more use of.

It seems very sneaky not to make it abundantly clear on the booking page that the facilities you are paying a higher pitch fee for aren't available!

    Maybe the club will respond?......

I do hope we'll get a response B2, it seems that the details haven't been updated and need attention. Either way it would be good to know what is open on the site and what isn't?!

Maybe the club consider it good business practice to have their site directory and website out of date and only need sorting once every 2 years?

Personally it's not how I'd run my business.....

It’s another symptom of what’s becoming a poorly run business from the point of view of Members, and I suspect ratching up the stress quotas for those working at the sharp end such as Site staff and those answering  the phones.

I wouldn’t be that bothered really, but the crux of the matter is that we pay for Membership, and at the moment, HQ are not delivering and managing to expectations in a number of ways.

Thanks for the updates on here Rowena, I appreciate your response. As the season has started at Hillhead I was surprised that bookings are being taken with such out of date information. I hope the corrections appear soon because it's a "flagship" site and it's quite misleading to read the present details. We have a booking there and considered cancelling.

    Afternoon

The club’s voucher scheme was a win win. Cash flow for the club and a 20% discount for members. 20% of £X million worth of vouchers sold is a lot and equates to a fair few free nights. Slightly more than the £12 given by the other club I think.

We’re all free to make a choice where we use our vans, no handcuffs involved😆

ps, took 2 hours to post this!

A pity then that with all that extra income there are no updates on the Hillhead site page? wink I presume CAMC doesn't have the digital capabilities. Are other holiday companies offerings based on previous years data?

I have included this thread, one about trying to buy insurance and takethedogalong comments on the server error thread. If it is ever looked at by staff it will, maybe possibly, bring it to their attention if they don't already know about ALL THE ISSUES....

I consider the response exceedingly poor, just how deep should one dig into a site/holiday to ensure that what's advertised is actually whats offered?

I wonder what the club would think if they were investigated by a media show such as you and yours, money box, rip off Britain etc? Maybe we should contact them with this sort of offer.....

I see that the web page is still showing incorrect information .How can it take in excess of 24hrs to remove it . I get the impression that CMC's attitude is ""  The plebs are winging again , ignore them they'll go away ". Rather a shoddy way to run a business.

What is also strange is that Rowena is able to respond within a day or so to queries on this thread and on the one concerning the Bristol site, but hasn't come back with any responses to the comments on the very thread she initiated about the server errors!!!

Perhaps there is nothing to report back on? There is clearly a serious problem somewhere but if no one is providing the reasons why I imagine there is little that Rowena can do or report back on. If the people undertaking the IT work don't know what the reason is or can't fix it in the short term do we gain much from knowing that? OK perhaps it would lower expectations of a fix anytime soon but I think people are wanting deadlines which perhaps is not possible to provide? I am sure she will come back to us when there is something to report.

I think the silence on the server error speaks volumes.

The reply on here from Rowena shows a similar unprofessional approach to business. Not from Rowena, she's only the messenger. The use of the word soon rather than immediately!

"The content team will be updating the information soon and removing the Complex Times, Entertainment Schedule and Christmas PDFs. We apologise for any confusion."

The thread was started on 13th, obviously read and passed on to receive a 'casual' response regarding amending details on 15th and according to a poster on 16th, 26 hours after Rowena's response incorrect information has not been removed..........

DavidKlyne I'm not thinking about a deadline, just the curtesy of an acknowledgement of the ongoing issues. After all its not just affecting CT, folk have pointed out other areas of the website and even telephone issues. Mind you maybe she is chasing for comments and progress and isn't getting anywhere there's little she can do. Embarrassing for her to say the least because she can't even tell us she's doing her best but getting nowhere. As I said it speaks volumes.
