TV/DVD problem
Hi all, we are currently away in Spain with the caravan and we are having difficulties playing DVDs in our TV/DVD combo. The tv works fine but when we try to watch a DVD after a few minutes the picture freezes and no amount of trying to fast forward or skip forward or back works. This is the second TV/DVD combo that we have had this problem with and we’re wondering if the Spanish power might have something to do with it. I don’t really want to go out and buy another system only for the same thing to happen again. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Are you running it directly plugged in to the caravans 12v supply or via a 3 pin 230v plug with a transformer on it similar to when charging your laptop.
I ask this as I'm aware some of the budget TV's do not like the 12v supply your caravan electric set-up supplies. Try the mains set-up.
This is one reason I went for an expensive Avtex as it can cope with a dirty/rough 12v power supply.

It is just plugged in to the normal 3 pin socket same as you would do at home. I don’t know anything about a transformer. It is not the best quality either but I really did not want to spend a lot for something that is only used when it is raining.

Thanks for your suggestions. It happens with any disc we have tried and the socket is fine so going on your breakdown it looks increasingly like the problem is with the player although for the same thing to happen on two players and two different caravans seems like a bit of a coincidence. I will wait a bit longer to see if anyone else has a suggestion before I loose the plot entirely and end up chucking it out the window.

I do not know if the TV/DVD issue may be caused by low voltage,as they are customarily fed via a transformer.
However we have experienced voltage fluctuations on Continental sites which triggered the low voltage alarm on the fridge.Has that gone off as well?

chuck it out of the window and get a good book or two, sorry do not have a better suggestion, do not have a tv or dvd player in the caravan, but i do have 12 months back copies of the club magazine unopened and i cant decide whether to throw them in the bin or load them into the caravan for our next trip just so i have a little light reading
