Foret de Lourdes
Hi,
In May Im travelling down from the Dordogne with a caravan to the Foret de Lourdes and can’t find directions to the site anywhere.
Can anyone advise a route to the site or route to avoid especially once I approach Lourdes.
Many Thanks

Go to the website for that campsite, scroll down. and there’s a detailed map of how to get there.

Driving a 7 metre MH rather than a caravan. We came into Lourdes on the D940 and turned onto the D937 which avoids much of Lourdes. Although on leaving we turned right onto the D914 at the same junction and followed that to the N21, which was also OK. Your entry road into Lourdes will depend on which route you take down from the Dordogne. Follow the D937 (Avenue de Vizens) to the Rte de Pau, turn left onto this. Follow to the D13 and turn right over river. Follow past the Camping du Loop and turn right D13 Rte de Batsurguere. Follow up the hill to the site. All the roads are nice and wide, except for the last bit up the hill, which has a low wall on one side and a cliff face on the other, it is twin track and not that bad, just needs a bit of care.
A very nice site, we particularly liked the animals which wandered down through the campsite from the mini kids zoo to there quarters every night. They give you a pass if you ask, which you hold up to the camera and call on the intercom at the back gates to the sanctuary and they release the electronic lock to let you in. Saves walking all round the road. There is a rather steep path that avoids the top section of road as well, comes out by the Camping du Loop. So it is possible to walk all the way to central Lourdes, more or less traffic free.1
