New Galicia Brittany Ferry

We were excited to be traveling out to Spain on the new Ferry in January and even splashed out on a Commodore  class cabin. However, even though the crossing was the calmest of calm, the vibration and noise in our cabin was horrendous. I emailed BF who say I should have complained at the time, bit difficult to ask for a change of cabin when you’ve just got tucked up in bed and find you can’t sleep. No apology or undertaking to investigate the rattling in the cabin.

on a positive note, the Commodore Club room with inclusive food & drink (wine) was worth paying for so you won’t go hungry if there’s nothing on the restaurant menu you fancy or don’t want to queue.

    Thanks for the info, Martin.
Which cabin were you in?  We’re booked on the Galicia , to Santander, May 27th cabin no 903.

Club lounge sounds good🙂. We’ve rescheduled this trip 3 times now, originally booked for May 2020. Fingers crossed for getting to Spain this time 🤞🙂

A quick Google leads to some very poor reviews so glad that a combination of location, intended destination and price means we will be using other routes.

Hi David, Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

As I said its looking unlikely we will use BF this year so just hope that some comments that Pont Aven may be retired, due to hull issues, are not correct as that is by a long way our favourite way to cross.

Update - after posting my review on Trustpilot, BF have provided a more apologetic response and a cabin upgrade for our return on Pont Avan.

As asked by Pliers - our cabin was on the top deck, (penthouse) 984 a few doors from the stern.

    Thanks, Martin.

Just had a look at the Galicia on line guide, and our cabin is on the opposite side of the top deck to yours, and further forward. So maybe quieter 🤔. I’ll be packing ear plugs just in case!

We’re also returning on the Pont  Aven, lovely ship. Rumoured to be moving to the St Malo route when BF have all their new ships running on their Spanish routes.

    Enjoy your holiday. 🙂

Travelled on the 0900hrs from Portsmouth on February 8th cabin 990. Accommodation was excellent as was the food. Our sitting was at 2015hrs, there were no queues and we were shown to a table where the order was taken. All the staff we encountered were friendly and polite. The weather was kind to us as the majority of the 28.5 hours the seas were calm.
