I’m surrounded by a lot of them Micky boy👍🏻. Around here are mainly Arable Farmers with diverse Farming attitudes, lucky for me a lot of them haven’t scrubbed out hedges & have maintained woods & copses, mainly for Fox coverts mind as this area is also big on hunt support but again quite a few have become enlightened due to losing farm Cats, Dogs & fowl to the hunt foxhounds☹️.

I too was highly supportive of our local Alkborough Flats Managed Realignment Scheme which saw mainly arable land returned to nature and used as flood defence and rewilding. This has proven very successful. Where once wildfowlers blasted the living day lights out of birds and spread their toxic lead shot across the area today many wildlife observers and enthusiasts venture to witness the many newly recolonisation of birds, animals, reptiles, amphibians, insect and flora. Well worth a visit with a lovely CL and cafe at the top of the escarpment.

Well after seeing Winter Watch last night it was pleasing to see Chris Packham complimenting viewers who had sent in their photographs, just hope he continues in this vein it is so much nicer and encouraging for others to send in their unusual photographs.

Have recently spent 6 nights there with another CT poster. One of our favourite CLs, just a pity the date was closed for refurbishment.frown Could just done a bit better weather conditions for bird watching.

Not sure what ‘the date was closed’ means? It is a very interesting place to visit with lots of other nature reserves/venues to visit locally for both the serious and casual nature watcher!

I think for 'date', read 'site'. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I thought it might be the cafe.

Thanks, that's right. Don't know where "date" came from. I should read my post much more closely before posting.embarassed

However the cafe will be open by now. ( My kindle has a mind of it's own as it swapped cafe to date in the previous sentence before I corrected it)

Thanks Nellie, good to here both site and cafe now open. For those who have not been it’s well worth visiting this site and the reserves on the it’s doorstep and those slightly further afield.

Yes, in retrospect I’d agree, let Chris Packham continue for the next season at least. It has been informative and entertaining to boot. Very balanced in my opinion!
