Exploiting the members

That’s very short sighted, DD, for the reason DK gave.

Lest anyone should think that "exploitation" is unique to the club, have a look at the prices for a family of 2 adults and 2 children at Trevornick just up the road from the club site at Treamble Valley, the cheapest pitch for a fortnight in August being "just" over £1000! (And don't forget the "extras").

So clearly CAMC filled a need and exploitation, as you call it, is very much your favoured method of operation when it suits. How, then, can you be against higher prices at peak times on the grounds that it’s 'exploitation'?🤔
Sorry but it doesn't correlate.

Chalk & Cheese….Trevornick is a factory campsite with extensive entertainment, pool/spa, 18 hole golf course, restaurants/bars, fishing lakes etc. Comparison with Treamble is a nonsense. Wouldn’t stay at either of them.

In my green and salad days quite a few. But surely the number is immaterial, as you once said I've done enough to know the difference an have an opinion.
btw the way you know that site you often praise, Concierge Camping, they go from £47 per night one day to £69 the next and appear to have a price increase on weekends. In summer it peaks (pun intended) to £85, now that to me is possibly exploitation but as you would say (and did) the site is probably worth every penny over a club site!

I so agree with you with reference to older members on pensions ,it is one of the main conversations many have,, trying to keep costs within their budgets ,as many seem to post on here it the grey headed retired members who ,keep using sites and at this time of year keep quite a few viable enough to remain open
By doing away with the USP may well be more than just deposits and higher site prices it will also be the 21 cancellation period,
I had to cancel a site because of Hospital appointment that as we get older may well come as this one in less than The 21 day return of deposits without it seems having to prove, why

And of course once joined you had little choice but to use them?
In my view CC Ltd should not raise its prices to exploit the holiday periods and those that have little choice but to use them
Still can't get that btw?

Couldn’t be bothered to add up extras, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Trevornick didn’t offer better value on the basis that the extra cost (£100 pp) would be cheaper than buying the range of hypothetical activities from commercial operators would otherwise cost.

The choice is-use or don’t use, am I missing something here🤷🏻♂️🤔, no exploitation at all.

Boomers had all the job choices-out of 1 job on Monday start another Tuesday, private pension & a state pension, cold weather payments, no medical bills, until recently a pension rise every year too🤷🏻♂️, there is nothing in boomer world to worry about for sure. The golden era👍🏻

We have found hospitals quite accommodating in adjusting appointments to suit as are many other organisations. Of course you may not want to change an appointment if urgent.
I make my dental appontments 6 months in advance for checkups/teeth cleaning with a deposit and if something crops up to prevent attendance, as soon as its known I change it. No problem.

As to CCC sites, too variable in standards in my experience
We have only stayed on 8 to date. Those 8 we found very consistent in standard and a good one at that. Admittedly the HS are narrower, so caravaners had to park cars on the grass, but that was the only significant difference. Apart from the price of course, which was £6 to £8 cheaper per night and if it coincided with a period where the CAMC site was still at peak, double that.

C&CC expect cars to be parked on the grass and thats why the HS are narrower. Some of their pitches are very tight while others are spacious.
Have you been to the Tavistock site, Steve? There's quirkiness for you!

Everyone measures their own standards and I'm completely fine with that and I was just asked what I didn't like about them. The ones I stayed at one was on par with the club, the rest were not as tidy as club sites and standards of facilities cleanliness was not. Parking on grass would be a definite no no for me. Again each to his own.
I also didn't like having my pitch chosen for me, nor did I like the annoyance shown by the warden/SM when I said I wanted another and actually pointed to it, although he could have been having a bad day.

+1, it is & was a golden age that won’t be seen again as it’s proving to be unaffordable to the Country. I know it will come the ‘means tested’ state pension but it’ll not be popular. It also puts us in the least ‘exploited members’ bracket👍🏻

I'd not stay there again but would try the nearby commercial site, or the CAMC Lydford AS.

Several CAMC sites we used when we had a caravan, because you have to pitch to the peg, were often impossible to park totally on the hardstanding. At least with the C&CC you can put your caravan + awning (or in our case MH) anywhere on the HS. So far we have been given a choice of pitch at 7, allocated at 1, but it was the only HS available so would have been the same on a CAMC site.
Having said all that, the bulk of our bookings this year are CAMC, despite there higher price, because of the ease of booking. 2023 will almost certainly be different.

You are never going to stop holiday companies increasing their prices during school holidays , has been and always will be the case . The only way I can see that being eased would be for the government to make it mandatory for all LEA's to have school holidays at the same time. At least that way the holiday band width would be reduced , so reducing length of peak times . Can't see that happening though.

With the way it seems later generations than ours ,spend and get themselves in financial troubles even if the state pension is means tested? Only those who as it seems these days are not worth the money they are getting ?will be so affected?
OHs son cannot understand how we can manage on our pensions ,when his monthly mortgage payments is higher than we get with our pensions,
Where as we, as our parents were frugal during our working lives ,so have some money as a buffer if needed ,it seems todays generation just spend,

I don’t think folk were that much different in the past. I had friends who were always maxed out on their Access Card. When I started with the coal industry my pay almost halved over what I had been earning working in a foundry. Largely due to the large chunk they were taking for a long time in the future pension. Luckily I had no choice but to contribute and am reaping the rewards today, others did and made the wrong one. Being 70 seemed a long way away back then.

We all did the same JV we all struggled at the beginning but it’s worth it in the end-paying rent is dead money🤷🏻♂️. My house has gone up 4x the price I paid. I know of some folk who bought cheaper than I did & totally rebuilt theirs. The clever ones do these things as an investment. Each generation have their own struggles & successes👍🏻
