Please excuse my ignorance of the club's personnel. I have no wish to be rude to anyone.

Is your assurance ("I can assure you") given on behalf of the club, or just your personal opinion?

The thing is some posters are saying it is easy and/or possible and some not? Perhaps the transfer programs are there?

For me I don't care really, it won't affect me in the slightest having booked all SP.

1500 people work for the club so yes just my opinion but then everyone has the same training and we have monthly refreshers to boot, so on that I think the club as a whole takes GDPR and information security very seriously. Every action has a consequence which every employee is very aware of

Data migration, either directly or via another format, relies on the original data being correct or "clean".  This often is not the case and well written transfer programs will have the ability for humans to make a judgement to get the error corrected.

As an example, one I encounterd myself this Christmas was the failure of an on-line retailer's software to accept a delivery address from a third party. The third party was quite reasonably sending an initial letter (one character) for my first name, while the recieving software was demanding at least two characters. It would have worked if the initial third party data entry had put a correct gramatical full stop after the initial letter.

    Have fun folks!

I believe there are a few non EHU pitches available on the network and I suppose it would be if you were using Calor and had no solar capability.😀

I do hope all this shenanigans doesn’t drive more onto the CL network. We have enough coping with all those who want to be Overseas at the moment! 😉😁

I agree in part with your post, especially the first paragraph, and the fact that cash flow will be increased which I suspect was a huge driver. "Swimming in cash" I’m not so sure about. Unless one studies the accounts, it’s not easy to determine. Surplus funds are used to acquire new sites and refurbish others.

The decision to accept non-members on some sites is often a local authority or landowner requirement and not one made by the club. In any case, I suspect not many non-members use club sites as it costs them £13 per night more than members pay.

I'm one who is pleased the club has had the foresight to branch out into pods and cabins because touring as we know it with caravans and MHs is already becoming more difficult in view of the push towards EVs. I think static accommodation could be the future and the club is endeavouring to provide a way for us all to continue our hobby.

I think the pods and cabins are fine, will be useful for members and their guests, but I am opposed to their use being advertised and sold to non members.

The published accounts show just that!

I'm sure Experience Freedom has its reasons for letting cabins etc to non-members.👍

What is it the accounts show? A surplus? Unless viewed by an accountant who understands the finer detail of the club's income, outgoings, liabilities and assets, I doubt the bottom line tells us much. The club is non profit making as there are no shareholders clamouring for dividends so any surplus is ploughed back in one way or another. I'm just glad the final figure isn't in the red!

Splitting hairs, CY. It's providing a way of touring site to site using fixed accommodation with the bonus of not having to set up your outfit, something particularly advantageous to caravanners.

It's not a lot of use to those who choose to wildcamp but it's a way of the club continuing to provide a facility to meet the needs of members. A lot of CLs are doing likewise👍

Do the pods have toilets and showers?   And cooking facilities?

There are some basic and some more fully equipped but they have various facilities and some are accessible for wheelchair users. Check them out, kj.

Pods and glamping are no replacement for touring with your own Caravan or MH they are just another sign that the club is diverting from its core values and business as a member based organisation providing touring sites for its members.

Do you not think they are recognising that touring, ie towing or running a MH, is not going to be so easy in future?

I see it as providing an alternative to meet changing circumstances.

They are not a replacement, however they are an alternative for those perhaps unable to still cope with towing a caravan. Personally I would much rather tour using a few sites with pods than use hotels. For us though they would allow family members without an RV to meet up on site. Hopefully they will extend the network.

All these facilities are available now in their 1000,s Static Caravans, and it would be intresting to know how many members use these pods and glamp tents I suspect its non memembers

The Club can't afford to take a head in the sand attitude towards the future, can they? Currently they are really only putting their toe in the water. I suspect in the next 10/20 years touring in caravans and perhaps motorhomes will change significantly. The phasing out of ICE cars with no affordable EV alternatives may well consign the hobby we know today to history, or a good part of it. I think there will be a move towards more static accommodation. It might be hedging ones bets but I suspect change is on its way?

I don't see this, it is pure specualtion. Chocolatetrees has already demonstrated it can be done and you are ignoring the potential of development. Diesel and petrol powered motorhomes have a long life if looked after and will still be on the road beyond 2030 (I almost certainly won't)  Future new vehicles won't only be electric they may well be powered using other fuels e.g. hydrogen. If your thinking does come to fruition (probably not in my time) then I cannot see glamping as being my first choice alternative.
