New Site Booking System

On that basis ED you should welcome the ability to book a grass pitch as it seems you are likely to have plenty of choice As to whether existing grass pitched campsites will be converted to hardstandings I somehow doubt that because I suspect the Club would have already done it had it been possible? Probably a bit early to tell whether it will lead to more hardstandings where currently there is a mix. The club will no doubt monitor the booking patterns, my guess would be that the hardstandings will be booked first. I suppose the gamble for the Club in allowing you to book a pitch surface is that more grass pitches could be left unoccupied which would put pressure on converting more to hardstanding but I think it a case of watching this space.

That sounds like an option I could go for.
Not that grass bothers me particularly. The only time I ended up ploughing a furrow was on a CL and I was still able to extricate my moho without outside assistance. I wonder how often, across the network, that the cavalry have to be summoned and how much of the problem, even then, is of the drivers own making.

Evening
I've mentioned before that there's no need to cancel a booking and try to rebook. Contact the site concerned and amend the booking. At least then you'll know if there's a hardstanding available to book.

Ha,
Those were the days when wardens wore green, and some wore white socks
No front tow balls anymore though

"in an attempt to ensure you get the type of pitch you thought you were getting" There's never been a guarantee of a pitch type though has there?
I've mentioned to DK above, a way to find if there's a hardstanding available after the new system is live is to call the site you intend to visit and amend your booking in some way, then at least you'll be informed. Ok you'll then have to pay a deposit but that's how it's going to be.
I hope this helps some. There's been some questions raised by us already regarding existing bookings similar to your thoughts so hopefully they'll be answered at the next training session.

Is that going to be possible from the old to the new system JK.? I seem to remember when the question was raised before, it was advised to cancel and rebook. That is currently the advice for amending a booking in FAQ, but I can’t find the reference to securing a pitch surface type.

Move on ... yes. Let's examine that
"How long would you like to stay?"
"Erm ... 1 night? 5 nights? Maybe a bit longer ...?"
"Ok. What is the maximum number of nights you'd like to stay?"
"7"
"No problem. I book you in for 7 nights, I hold your passport and you tell me the night before you want to leave and pay then. No problem"
What's not to like ...

When camping abroad we would say 2 nights, maybe 3 nights. They just say OK, maybe take the camping carnet (do they still exist? Havent been abroad for a while) Then settle up when we leave. Sometimes we stay longer than three nights. One site in the Jura, the "patron" who used to visit each evening, was mightily amused when we stayed 7 or 8 nights in the end.

Indeed, I'm looking forward to it 😊 Let's just hope they introduce a price differential too to 'encourage' tiny MHs from sitting in the middle of a HUGE pitch .... because they can. 🙄 Though having experienced the more laid back attitude of a C&CC site we think we're leaning more towards them in future.

Is it not possible under the new system to amend the booking yourself to a particular pitch type online, or does it become complicated?

*'encourage' tiny MHs from sitting in the middle of a HUGE pitch .... because they can*
What is wrong with a small outfit in a large pitch? I don't want to be really close to anyone so I'm happy with that scenario, besides which, just like me they are entitled to a large pitch and should they wish to erect or wind out their awning it's their choice.

the problem is that there are only so many pitches & it means that large outfits are then often squeezed onto the smaller pitches that are left.
Not sure where awnings come into it ... if the pitch has a white peg, you can wind out or erect an awning, if it's blue ... you can't. Maybe have a price differential on them too 🙄

Honest answer DK I don't know exactly. I would presume so as you can amend a booking with the current system. There's lots of talk on this forum about cancelling and starting again as that was mentioned in the q & a's. I've said a few times to contact the site as we can amend, overlap and freeze bookings on the current system preventing anyone else taking your spot. I'm guessing it may be the same in future. I do know though that things in general won't be complicated at all.
Off to grout me tiling now, Buenos Noches

As some one that has been a member of the CCC for a number of years, and use Private sites , do not see what the fuss is.
To be honest on balance the CCC system is better, such has you rarely, if ever ,see small outfit taking up a large pitch , which then requires large units being forced to squeezed, on to small pitches ,as you do on club sites1 -
Overseas Hotels do the same, on signing in they request your passport & put it in a wee pigeon hole with other info. It saves losing it or having it stolen👍🏻

Good luck with phoning a Site to get the Wardens to amend your booking. We tried ringing two Sites last year to have a conversation about something important but all we got was a recorded message all the time. It only got sorted because the Wardens phoned us about something else!
We, in our tiny little MH, regularly go for the most spacious pitch we can find. It’s the only way of not having to listen to next doors TV/domestic/etc on a Club Site!

I cannot remember having our passports retained by hotels overseas? they have had them for admin purposes but we have had them given back to us later to put in our room safe,
I would not consider it safe for them to keep our passports in wee pigeon holes for the duration

It's our individual choice what size unit to have but whatever size we have we all pay the same price, my opinion is we all have the right to use whatever size pitch is available, I've had a small unit and when using ccc sites was always given the smallest pitch available with no space it was galling knowing I was paying the same as larger units with far nicer pitches, I now have a very large unit and if I end up on a tight pitch then tough, it's my choice of unit size I dont begrudge the small units having more space.

We managed last May with no issue, phone answered straight away. I phoned before probable block cleaning time and away from first arrivals. It remains to be seen wether it will be possible between systems. I will try as soon as possible at the one site we have booked, on which getting a HS might be difficult.

As said to us by site staff ,it does not matter what size of outfit the arrival has, if the pitch they chose is what the like, they will get on it whatever size the outfit
And I am sure when contacting a site as in our case for a pitch as near a possible to the less abled wash room now needed ,we have yet to not get a call with a reply, even if they have had the answers phone on

As long users of one of the Club’s more traditional Sites, Marazion, the impact of just how huge outfits are nowadays is plain to see and experience. It used to seem very roomy back in the 1990’s when vans were much smaller. Now it’s like shoehorning a size 10 foot into a size 3 boot. Painful at times.
