Note that hauliers will require a new £1100 licence to operate to and from UK / EU from 21 May 2022. Also note this includes cars towing a trailer over 2.5 T.  Does anyone know whether there are any moves afoot towards similar for cars towing caravans? Sunlit uplands eh!

Are there any caravans weighing more than 2.5 tons?

Can you provide a link, VV, so we can read what it's all about?

I think it will only apply for commercial use. Trailers over 2.5  tons already have to be registered for EU use. I had to register my fifth wheel, pretty easy to do and cost £25. We were stopped at a services in Spain and documents checked including trailer registration. We were checked again at Bilbao port.

Probably only American stuff. My fifth wheel trailer is just under 6 tons loaded. The law means trailers not just caravans. I have a friend with a race car transporter which tips the scale at 4.5 tons

I saw a general article and went to gov.uk - Brexit: business guidance.

Appreciate that a 2.5t tlr will negate most if not all caravans but just wondered whether anyone had seen any similar Brexit small-print that is now emerging and which may target caravanners as I'm just about to get one?

    Thanks, David.

VV, it's all about international road haulage and needing to add vehicles/trailers to transport operators' licences, or obtain such a licence. This is a long standing scheme and the latest appears to be a tweak in view of our having left the EU.

In view of the above, I wouldn't expect it to be extended to non-goods traffic but that's only my view.

Not just trailers, IIUC. Any vehicle over 2.5T carrying "goods" has new hoops to jump through. Motorhomers need to be careful what they have in their garage - no bulk supplies of Yorkshire Tea for their mate who owns a one-stop in Benidorm.
