New Site Booking System

Perhaps not so much of a bun fight if changing an existing booking involved paying a deposit, as it should weed out the speculative ones. Also they could release amend an existing booking a couple of days prior to full release of the system to give those already booked a fighting chance.

As also posted under the present system we are "advised? "to cancel before making any amendments /alterations to our current bookings. which as I stated and had experience of this year, if you are trying to get an odd day or extend ,do not cancel or there is at busy times every possibility that those looking will take all or some of your booking that you have just cancelled,

"We have hopefully done all our tour bookings for next year,,in anticipation of what the new system may throw up? ,hence my inquiring post."
...but you'll be subject to the same 'possibly no HS left' scenario I alluded to earlier...
Steve has suggested making 'amendments' should this be the way forward once more info is gleaned...I'll be doing our few, too...although they are June bookings so should really be an issue re: ending up on grass.

Precisely.

What's that old saying you like to tell everyone? It's good to talk. So if you need to amend, why not take your own advice and speak to the site staff, as you know they can amend a booking in any way and not lose any of your days.
So, by your own admittance you've booked up all of next year and maybe won't use all of those bookings. Is that not a prime example of speculative booking and the need for deposits?

Even under the conditions of the new system? And that is of course when the site staff return your call to talk that the pitch/pitches have not been snapped up by others
And your second paragraph is against what we have been advised by your head office ,that is to Book Early

JVB. There are two suggestions on the FAQs, either cancel and re-book on the new system or manage two sets of bookings which means: keep one on the old system and add the new extra booking which will require a deposit and second check in. But there is no guarantee under either system that the new dates you want will be there.

I do not think you have understood what is being posted, and not just by me
You are suggesting if I keep some bookings on the present system and book the odd days on the new system pay a deposit?
That would be interesting for the site staff when we rock up on site as this year as one site booking would be as follows Sun to wed npresent system Thurs with deposit, Fri with present system Sat with deposit,,rest of booking on present system

That is exactly what CAMC are suggesting JVB. If you don't want to cancel and re-book then the only alternative is to keep the old booking and add new bookings on the new system and pay a deposit. This will mean booking in twice on your chosen site, returning to the office again.

I agree Brue. This sort of scenario will eventually work its way out of the system as more and more people start to book all of their sites under the new system. I can appreciate that JVB probably spends more time in his van than many so will have more chance to test the various ways of doing things but I am sure the Club will be aware that small issues will occur and be happy to sort them out accordingly. Providing all site managers are as clued up as JK then shouldn't be any problems and if there are they should be easy to sort out?

Yes, I was thinking that too, but as our present bookings are on HS only sites, it will not be a problem personally.
If it all gets too complicated next year, we would just cancel and go elsewhere.
But dealing with multiple bookings for a stay will not otherwise be the member's problem. I don't envisage multiple reception visits either, this fancy new system will surely be able to cope with paying for the visit in one go? 😇

Sorry if I misunderstood your post, David, I for one couldn't do the amount of CL visits that we do without the use of the SD for easy reference, not always being able to access WiFi.

I think jv's beef maybe that he might want to amend or changes some booking but isn't interested in deposits? That's how I read it anyway. Like you say DK things will soon iron out.
So, the new system goes live sometime in April. Anything booked or amended after that will be on the "new" system which means a deposit. Anything booked up until then (currently until Dec. 2022) and not amended at all won't need a deposit. Any extra admin for site staff will be very straightforward to do, and we'll even do it later in the day so there'll be no holdups at arrivals. Really no big deal and it will be sort of useful for us as well for training new staff.

Perhaps the best advice will be to wait and pick through the pile of rubble, splintered wood and twisted metal that that will be the dual system in the hope of finding a pitch amongst the bomb craters, or am I being a bit dramatic?

This is the FAQ on the club site and the answer
Will I be able to amend and cancel my bookings online?
Yes, you will be able to amend and cancel bookings online. Simply enter the 'manage my booking' area on the website or in the app.The answer only says you will be able to amend it does not give any indication of cancelling a booking to do so but it is vague enough not to have fully answered the question.
I have emailed customer services explaing the issue and asking for more clarity, I suggest those who have the same concerns email also, the more its flagged as a problem the harder it will be looked at.

Whatever it is-I like the turn of phrase👍🏻😊

I have not any "Beef." as you put it, I was just pointing out with the present system as we had this year ,a problem that can and has happened ,if anyone takes notice of the "recomended" method of cancelling a booking then doing a fresh booking especially on popular sites ,Do Not Take The Chance it could well mean losing all or part of your original booking

It was a joke, Wedgy. The smiley is the clue.
That'll be the same club of which you are a member, of course.
Anyway, they have and very welcome they are too.👍🏻
