Reading between the lines in all the spin that is being put on the changes to the booking system, I think we are not going to have a handbook and map for much longer.

We have just got back from shopping and got chatting to our neighbour who also happens to be a Club member and caravanner. At the weekend he had been to Morton on Marsh and by way of asking how it went I asked if he had heard the Club were going to be taking deposits from next year. His immediate reaction was that it was about time!!! Its difficult to judge whether that is a common conclusion but the general absence on here of dozens of anti deposit posts does perhaps suggest there is a general acceptance of the idea?

I don't understand what you're trying to say jv. I said how it's going to be, I can't put it any simpler.

The only problem with that is of course the CL's? Perhaps what they will do, until they get some sort of online booking system for CL's is to separate out the Club sites from CL's? The Club site brochure could be condensed into probably a 10 page booklet with 4/5 five site to the page grouped by region with members directed to the website for more details. I think it would be useful to be able to download the site/cl directory as a PDF file which would enable the printing of individual pages as an when needed.

I think when given the club have in their "wisdom?." already told the membeship some of what is going to be imposed on us ,your assumption that it is accepted is not really validwink

And your neighbour until you spoke to him wasi n the dark about it even though. Some of it was in the magazine ,undecided

If that is how it is going  to be now implemented ? Thats fine but we were first advised a booking to be cancelled First before any alteration was made

I think you have misunderstood JVB. It is only recommended that you cancel and rebook if you have a booking under the current system and want to make a change after the new system has been introduced.

    The FAQs explain.

Because the system is not as user friendly as they want us to believeundecided

It I think is going to be a very Interesting? Time until at least end of March 2023surprised

It is recommended that you cancel and then rebook when both systems are running together    because it will then involve a deposit for the altered booking if pitches by then are still availableundecided

    I agree with you

Searching sites for a touris far easier using the SD than ploughing through the booking website when looking for sites and the info that is there and with the map it gives all the sites on your journey

Sorry I have not read all the previous posts,so this may have been covered, but in all the years of being a member I have never had to cancel, but I have had to change the touring plans suddenly twice now.

Recently we were staying at the Club's Bearsted site when we received a telephone call that my FIL was unwell and waiting hospital results,we were booked in for Tredegar House and the Bearsted site managers made this difficult time manageable, especially  phoning Tredegar House whilst I was in the office.

So my question is even though we had booked Tredegar House but stayed on an extra 2 nights at  Bearsted would we in future loose the deposit at Tredegar House even though the Club were still getting our site fees.

Happily my FIL didn't require hospital and we could continue holiday even getting into Baltic Wharf a day earlier than planned.

I think we will have to wait until we see the fine print of the T&C’s before we know the answer. We have on a couple of occasions, when we didn’t fancy towing in the weather conditions, extended a stay on one site and shortened a stay on the next. How will it handle that? Hopefully without the loss of deposit at the next site.🤞

Yours is another of the many it seems, questions on just this site,  ,that it seems at this time we are not privy to any real explanations to      ,from any quarter,     which in my opinion is just adding to the confusion, that if the club had been more up front may well have allayed must of  negativity of many

Or is it that many of the queries cannot yet be answered? ,as the tinkering and tweeking is still trying to fathom out how it is to work as smoothly as some try to spin it to members

I wonder if the club looked at deposit systems adopted by commercial sites and have attempted to adopt those without fully appreciating the number of members who book multiple sites on a tour, and who for whatever reason have to change those booking while on site, as described above by Fozzie?

Your contributions are always appreciated particularly on this subject as we try and get our heads around the detail. I am sure people can decide where the reliable information is coming fromwink

I did also suggest they do a separate directory for CL's could be the answer to the post I was replying to. No way did I suggest they should do away with a directory. As I have done before I have suggest the directory is available, for those that want it, in PDF format. It is probably already produced in that format when it is sent to the printers so no extra work apart from uploading to the website.

+1, when I was a family on low income my income fed us & put a roof over our heads. Until I’d worked myself into good jobs holidays were a dream.

Yes agree (and under the new system you can pay by instalments after the deposit has been paid)

The deposit is a percentage of the total cost rather than a fixed administration fee ... so a family of 5 (who have no choice other than to book at peak times) have to find 20% of the total cost. As a couple, our deposit will be much less for the same period for the same administrative process. It also discriminates against those that are not in the privileged position of being able to afford to set up an account with The Bank of CAMC to hold their deposits. I think I speak for many members who have stayed loyal to the club because of ease of booking/amending/cancelling. Wherever we want to go, we seek out the nearest club site. We don't look at any other provider. This change  removes that loyalty. Who knows, it could be the best thing ... removing the USP removes loyalty so time to try new sites and new locations.

There may be an element of that, particularly in the colder months, when sites are not full. However, of late from May through to the beginning of October, even away from weekends and public holidays, there has been no shortage of takers. Suggesting that the majority of cancellations were rebooked.

...  both the family & the couple now have to find 100% of the total when they arrive, whether it's peak times or not

They will have to find the balance of the cost before they arrive at the site, which will also be more than your fees, as there are more of them. Using your logic that would also be unfair.🤔

You beat me to it ED😂
