Booster last Saturday at 1020.By 10 that evening uncontrollable shivering, early hours profuse sweating and very painful arm.
Sunday, drowsy most of the day, in bed before 9 and broken sleep till 8 yesterday morning.
Needless to say that the message I received today inviting me to book a booster will be ignored!

I had some reaction to first vaccination for one day, lethargy aching arm etc, but none after second jab.
The worry for me was that the recent symptoms were exactly the same as I had a year ago-just before I ended up in hospital with Covid and pneumonia, so did a lateral flow test and negative.

Have you had the same vaccine for all your jabs or was your booster a different on?
We both had Pfizer for all 3 an other than a bit of a sore arm for 24 hours that was it, when we had the booster we also got the flu jab in the other arm, that hurt more and that arm was sore for 3 days.
A friend had AZ for her first 2 then Pfizer for her booster and was ill for over a week with flu like symptoms and lethargy.

Allan, me fine but OH had the cold/sweat yesterday evening and last night...bit better this morning.
crap scheduling (NHS couldn't get us together at fax centre till then) as we are off to Blenheim this morning....OH dozing, I suspect..
had the shivers on an earlier jab, but ok after this one.

There does seem to be different after affects with the two vaccines on the same person.
I had severe fatigue after the two AZ but only a sore arm with Pfizer.

We had AZ for first 2 then Pfeizer for 3rd, apparently the booster is better if its a different one or did the Doctor just ell me that to make me feel better
Who knows, but I think there’s still some residual concerns about the potential side effects of AZ? I’ve been lucky, no reaction to any of them, but my wife less so. I was told I’d be back up to full immunity (whatever that is) within 2 weeks of the Pfizer booster. Returning to the original topic….I think there’s now a greater risk of getting caught up in domestic riots than hospitalisation due to Covid on holiday!

We both had the same re-action, we had Moderna as a booster, we felt so ill I put it on the Yellow Card system, All I can say is we probably have strong anti-bodies and it was a good job we weren't going on holiday here or over there!
Waiting to hear how my BIL has got on on visiting relatives in Paris this week via Eurostar.

Well myself and Mrs C were told the same thing. She had hers this morning but it was the Moderna vaccine (AZ first two) as they said they had run out temporarily of everything else?

No plans to go anywhere in the van for next year yet, not even in the UK. I very much doubt we will venture across the Channel if so that will be the fourth year running that we have not been. I do have a winter get away booked but not in the van, just hoping that doesn't get screwed up but the upward trend in COVID cases.

There are so many famous quotes in Trains, Planes and Automobiles. Not one that stands out as the quote.
But, given this thread, I think I know the one you meant!
Which is not my favourite:
"Let Me Close This Conversation By Saying That You Are One Unique Individual."

We got caught in 2020 with credit for cancellations but were unable to use them in 2021 We booked Euro Tunnel for our June/July 2022 trip a few days ago. Fully refundable (for any reason), and no amendment fees. If we go, it's fine. If we don't, it's fine. Something to look forward too.

As this is posted in the overseas section does it refer to Blenheim in Germany where a famous battle took place in 1704? Or are these posts misplaced?

Hi Tammy, and others, We had the OAZ for first two and the Pfizer for the booster.
Almost all symptoms have passed, after feeling pretty lousy for 48 hrs, except still feeling cold most of the time.
So far as going away we may be dissapointed as the current favourite plan is Netherlands the Germany and Italy, but our Dutch friends have been messaging us today and things are no looking great at the moment.

ET, Definitely misplaced, guilty as charged😉

Harry, you need to plan less, and be more spontaneous. In 2020 (even during 'Big Lockdown') we booked and went as soon as we borders were opened. We managed to be in France from 13th July until the end of October, and both sons and their familes managed to visit us for a lovely family holiday when the sun shone and everyone had a happy time.
In 2021 France announced that their borders would be opened to the double vaccinated on 9th June. We heard this on a Friday, and in just a week we had booked our crossings, organised testing, downloaded the NHS App, got the cat an Animal Health Certificate, and went for it, crossing on the 13th June. We even managed to co-ordinate with a friend who travelled with down us. We stayed our maximum 90 days (or rather 89) before returning in September.
In these troubled times it doesn't do to think too far ahead. Be spontaneous and enjoy 2022 wherever you want to be, as soon as you're allowed to do it.

Yes, I'd forgotten about insurance. During that week we also managed to organise breakdown cover for us and the caravan and travel insurance, including cover for travel against FCDO advice and Covid19 cover as our annual policies had both come to the end of their term. Perhaps they cost us a few pounds more than we would normally pay, but it was worth it for a fantastic holiday.
As our Eurotunnel Frequent Traveller account had also ended, I also managed to find someone to share a package of Eurotunnel crossings (the power of Facebook) within that week, and organised the share and our first trip. We double benefitted from that as the person was not able to travel by car any more, so sold us the unexpired crossings that were still left - six crossings (for the price of two) and then Eurotunnel informed him that they had extended the package until June 2022. That means we had our two crossings in 2021 and hopefully we will be able to manage a short winter break and a spring/early summer break before they expire entirely.0 -
Totally agree. Take less notice of the media (who are loving the pandemic) and monitor the regulations re travel and entry rules. We too went to mainland Europe for 3 months in both 2020 and again earlier this year. We felt a lot safer there with the simple rules re wearing masks inside buildings, social distancing and showing our Covid19 pass when asked. I’m confident 2022 will be the same. Don’t get brain washed by the doom merchants.

We too are planning 2 longish (5 - 6 weeks each) overseas trips in 2022 but will not book until the new year - we only book the ferries anyway. Fully jabbed (and yes the 3rd is now showing on the NHS App). We have not been to mainland Europe for 2 yrs and cannot wait to go again. A few weeks ago we went on a short cruise stopping at Amsterdam and Antwerp and felt perfectly safe, more people were wearing masks than currently in UK. Already thinking about where to go next year.
