Saw 12 Large White Egrets in two fields whilst on the way to Villefrance on Thursday.
Just been for a walk and saw 1 fresh Common Blue male and 1 fresh female butterflies and plenty of very worn ones, quite a few Pale Clouded Yellows about as well and some lovely autumnal colours on some of the trees.
Had a frost first thing but now very sunny and mild hence the butterflies about even had a few Red Admirals in the garden.

Yesterday while walking on Cranborne Chase we say both Ravens and Red Kites, and a Charm of Golfinches. There were abundant berries, with the reds of Hawthorn, Rose Hips and Black Bryony, and the black clusters on the Dwarf Elder. The brambles had all but disappears but many of the trees were shrouded in Old Man's Beard.

Can't cap those, OP, but did see on Fonthill Lake a Great Crested Grebe, a Grey Heron, and a Black Swan. Not seen one of those for a while.

Haven't seen it myself but there is a black swan frequenting the creeks and upper reaches of Portsmouth Harbour currently.

Whilst washing up this morning and looking through the kitchen window had a Red Kite about 20 feet from the window and flying very low then about 5 minutes later had the Black Shouldered Kite flying about and hovering similar to a kestrel so got bins to watch it over our field and then just bas it was flying over the next field to ours the local male Kestrel decided to dive bomb it so a very quick flying around of the pair only for the female Kestrel to join in amazing and the Black Shouldered Kite flew away from here and the final wow of the day was a European Tree Frog sitting on a stone near our steps and even managed to take a photo as shown below, rest of the day was a lot quieter re wildlife.

Stourhead today was absolutely beautiful! The autumn colours and still waters on the lake made it picture perfect. We got there early before the crowds arrived and it was worth it.

Had another European tree frog near the house 2 in a week and think we have another round the back as I heard it calling very different from the other frogs.
Lovely photos brue many happy memories of walking around Stourhead, have noticed that the trees around here have gone very autumnal in the last week and lovely colours and a lot of trees have already dropped their leaves.

Thanks all for the nice comments. Just my Android smart phone ADP, Stourhead and the weather did the rest! A few more days of Autumn glory left, we just about caught it at the right time. I don't have very steady hands for camera work. As we left there were several serious photographers setting up with large cameras on tripods. But I think they were too late, lots of people arriving and the sun had started to disappear. 🌥

Beautiful autumnal photos Brue, love to see the autumn colours and smell that distinctive autumn smell of the woods.
We have never been to Stourhead but seen many photos of it, we used to make a yearly trip to Sheffield Park in Sussex to see sights similar to your photos but haven't been for a couple of years now. The art is timing visits just right to get the best possible colours isn't it.

Unusually for us we've had a lot of migrant starlings in our garden...but I'm waiting for the Fieldfares as they're my equivalent of springtime Swallows and I look forward to seeing them. We've saved a lot of apples for the winter birds.

Brue's photos made me aware of the Autumn scenes on Church drive today, here at Polesworth Abbey as I arrived to play for a funeral service.....

A red kite gliding low across the C&CC site at Oxford this morning. Not particularly unusual but so elegant in flight.

Out this morning, with Flyte, around our estate and in the middle of the small green were a dozen Greylag Geese, which, although he was off the lead, Flyte took no notice of, and the geese just sauntered round watching him but made no effort to fly off.

Whilst out at the washing line I saw a pale clouded yellow female butterfly and then a small copper butterfly a pleasure to see as it looks like today will be the last sunny day.
Still got the brambling coming to the window feeder and the other day found a young european tree frog so that is three we have seen in the last few weeks.

Spotted this when we were at Beamish Museum this week. Think it's a Merlin, it was quite small. It's eyes followed us as we walked away
