I have just done the calculation, 186 days today since our second vaccination so we should be OK.

Well, I'm well over 180 days, can't get an appointment on the NHS website and our nearest walk in centre (there's not one in the whole of Wiltshire) is at Stroud, 24 miles away - if I can make it on a Tuesday or Friday! They're not exactly making it easy for us, are they? frown

We are just at the 6 months (183 days). I haven't tried the booking site yet, I was going to start trying tomorrow. However, seeing the information today about walk in, I had a look online. There are numerous walk ins in Nottinghamshire, but when you open them up it says the are only walk ins for jabs 1 and 2. It would seem for anywhere within a reasonable distance it’s booking only.

Similar here, Steve. Bath racecourse would be closer but it specifies just jabs 1 or 2. I'm going to try ringing 119 to see if that's still the case.

Update! Just spent 15 minutes talking to a very pleasant person on 119 (well first 6 minutes were getting through all the recorded options) to discover that they only have access to exactly the same system as us. So it still says "not eligible". She also explained that (a) the system has not been updated to take account of the recent changes or today's announcements and (b) they don't have any information about specific walk in centres and whether they are, in fact, offering boosters.

A case of "left hand, right hand" syndrome it seems. frown

Like SteveL and moulesey I too found the only jabs on offer were doses 1 and 2 in the area where I live in Lancashire.  No mention of boosters on any of the ones I checked.  Given that my 6 months are up tomorrow, I should get a text or email and be able to book before long anyway.  So rather than just turn up and possibly having to queue in the pouring rain for ages, I prefer to do that, I don't think another week or so is going to make much difference.

We expected the Vaccination Centre to be busy but it was quite civilised when arrived at around ten past three this afternoon. We turned up with no appointment (it is a walk in centre after all!) Quick check at the door to see if we were entitled. Booked in at the desk, no queuing and moved forward to the vaccination area. Four bays and no one waiting so were seen pretty quickly. Left the Centre at about 3.40pm so about half an hour in all, including the 15 minute sit down after the jab. We expected it to be full of kids but the staff said they usually arrive a bit latter. I wonder when we will get our letters or texts!!!

If looking for walk in centres it's worth checking in each day as different ones come on line.

Tried the online booking site, this morning at 184 days and it agreed we could make a booking for tomorrow afternoon, at the centre we had our first two jabs, about 6 miles away. Closer places were available, but not for two weeks.

My OH went into local pharmacy this morning, no queue, no appointment, was given booster jab, out of door within 10 minutes, was told booster jab would not show on NHS app for possibly 2-3 weeks as their is a back-log due to the high demand now for the booster etc.

Had mine a couple of days ago after being summoned, not a major problem, however, online site said nearest centre was 5.5 miles away, it was, a pharmacy attached to Portsmouth Uni in the centre of Portsmouth, yes, it was 5.5 miles if you went across on the ferry, 12.5 miles by road, but was a glorious day so did not mind a trip on the ferry. Small queue but it was a drop in centre so people in queue with no appointment which is a bit annoying and could have been unpleasant if it had been raining as you had to queue outside undecided, but feel much safer nowlaughing

Success at last! Having been told by the 119 person yesterday to wait until the start of next week (yell) , lo and behold, yesterday, late evening, just decided to do a check on line and it allowed me to make an appointment for Saturday and just a couple of miles away on one of our regular dog walking routes. So win, win! 👍

Well, I had the phone call yesterday, and I'm booked in for Friday morning.  Exactly 29 days after the positive Covid PCR result. (They have to leave 28 days).  Just hope I don't get any after effects.... busy Friday!!

Received my appointment letter from NHS  Wales this morning. November 21st, 183 days after my second jab. Due to have my  rearranged Flu jab on the 23rd (we are away at Broadway on original date) hope there's no adverse reaction.

I had my booster Pfizer vaccine today and have had no adverse reaction.

The system here in North Wales was efficiently run. No walk-ins. All by appointment. OH has to wait until the end of the month, mere youngster that she is.smile

I had quite a sore arm for a couple of days after my booster, more so than the AZ. Having said that a small price to pay!!

Had ours today. All very efficient. No queue, in total took about 30 minutes including the sit down afterwards, which was socially distanced. Arm a bit sore, but as DK says a small price to pay.

We both had our booster dose yesterday along with the flu vaccine.

Very well organised, 2 areas one for appointments one for walk ins. They ask you not to arrive more than 5 minutes before appointment. Quick check you have one, then take seat and wait until your turn to go to a jabber.

Jabber then asks if you want both flu and covid, another medical person then comes and asks some questions, once all done jab in each arm.

Covid arm a bit sore last night but appears to be easing this morning. Flu jab arm now feeling a bit sore and heavy.

We both had Pfizer same as our first 2 jabs.

    So far no ill affects.

    That's good TG.

Last night we went to the theatre, Michael Portillo was speaking, part of a local literary festival. We had previously been to a music concert, both times we were all asked to wear masks, most did. The difference this time round after a half full well spaced out audience for the music was a jam packed full audience. Both of us felt uncomfortable even though our seats were on the edge of a row. I hoped M Portillo would keep the questions a bit short but they dragged on.  Due to no trains running locally after the recent rail accident, he signed books before the talk and then made a quick dash in a chauffeured car to Bath to connect up with a journey to Cromer today. A speaker's life is lucrative and busy!

I suppose the remedy if deciding to go to events like this is to choose something less popular?!

Meanwhile back at home a close neighbour has Covid after a ferry trip to the Channel Islands. Not feeling too good and missing important family events.

We'll be glad to get our boosters next week!

Last night I got a text from the NHS telling me I can book my Booster jab. There is obviously a time lag between having the jab and it appearing on your records. I have checked my NHS App and that only shows the original two AZ vaccines but nothing about the Booster I had on Monday.

I did say in a previous post that i was told that it would take 2-3 weeks to update the data base as there was a backlog due to a surge in demand for the vaccine, keep up laughing

"We both had Pfizer same as our first 2 jabs"

thought the advise was not to have the same type as your first 2 jabs, as mixing them gave greater protection ?

It was advised that having a mRNA as a booster is the preferred choice.

So for those who had AZ for their first 2 its preferred/recommended that Pfizer or Moderna be offered for the booster.

Having Pfizer or Moderna for the first 2 doesn't mean you have to have AZ for the booster.  I'm more than happy to have had Pfizer again.smile

We did not get a choice  we had AZ for our First two, and Pfizer for our booster, ,the staff at the centre advised a report by scientists has said it seems that having a different type for the booster gives better protection

There was a discussion on TV yesterday where this was discussed, and the information given was exactly as you stated TG.

Having had AZ previously, I now had Pfizer, while OH who had Pfizer before, now had Pfizer again.

Both her arms were pretty sore for about 6 days this time, longer than her usual.
