Thanks Tinster, I just wish I could bottle the sights & sounds & i’d gift it to the NHS for folk who are stressed because I’m so high on happy when I’m out there😂😂

Not a great picture as light not great, but daughter down just now with mum Daisy, here she is teaching her pup Bentley to swim, not that he needed much encouragement being half spaniel
, almost daily he is growing/changing. Fully house trained now, just got to watch that when he chases the squirrels he does not chase them indoors

I love my dogs, but this is what happens when you dont give them 110% when awake, oh! well was discussing with OH the purchase of new beds for guest room as joint xmas present, guess i could patch up with gaffer tape and a new valance and wait until he grows some

Love dogs, have owned gundogs for years, but no longer. We love working dogs. Under control dogs. Dogs on a lead. Non barking dogs. House-trained dogs. Dogs that do not intrude on other caravaners peace and privacy.
We’d love a dog, a quiet, working type and disciplined. We take the view that it is more responsible to not have one for the time being because in travelling away abroad, it is irresponsible to put the poor animal in kennels for our convenience. However to subject the animal to the high temperatures of overseas sites, ferries and miles of motoring is simply unkind.
To subject our fellow caravaners to barking, poohing, widdling and other disturbance is not what we want.Maybe we’ll come back later.

Owning a dog often means foregoing other things we enjoy so choices have to be made as the dog's welfare has to come first.

Aw…..our old dog has learnt a new trick. He’s coming up 12 in January, Chocolate Lab, was trained by someone who beats and shoots, but never got the hang of things, so has never been used for gundog duties. Bless him, his own name was a struggle when we took him on at 8 months, so we had no trouble changing it.
For the last 11 and 3/4 years, he has proudly taken one of his toys outside with him, every morning for that first wee, abandoning it in garden for some poor human to have to traipse out come rain or shine once he has come back in. Sort of “reverse retrieving” Well, this morning Choccy staggered us by taking out his favourite soft toy of the moment, dropping it as usual while he had his ritual snuffle around his “estate”. Having finished his tour, he purposefully strode back to his toy and fetched it in with him🤩 The Penny has finally dropped👏👏👏All visitors are treat to a walk through and shown some of his favourite soft toys. The rule is you may look, but it isn’t polite to touch.🤣🥰

Sharing my walk with Jack Frost.
This mornings walk was particularly beautiful, clear blue skies & hoar frost, the meadow was a sea of grass dusted with tiny crystals that had the newly risen sun glinting from a myriad of points. I must’ve seemed odd to anyone watching me as I did the whole owl thing watching the sun bounce off the ice crystals as I moved my body. We three caught the sun breaking the horizon on the final stretch to which we turned to pay homage for a few seconds as it brought a tiny uptick in warmth as it bathed our faces. Before that as young un & her mum met the meadow grasses which was a good 6” above their heads the burst of energy was astounding as they have been in winter mode for a while. No cloying mud these last few days with all the sun & sub zero temps. They circled far & returned 3 times before stopping for some affection & a cleaning of frost particles from their heads. Their joy fills me with joy. Young un is over 8yrs old now & her mum 10yrs old, they still have the capability to be transported back to puppyhood by frost & snow like most of us. The outward bound part of the walk was watching that pre sunrise orange/peach/pink strip both intensify & slowly turn into a dome as the sun got closer to breaking the horizon. Nature is so stunningly beautiful. have a great day.

What a fabulous morning you described there and very different from the damp grey down here. It's good to know there's life beyond grey. Thankyou for that and may you and your dogs have a great day!👍

Since we lost our last border collie Rosa ,I have not had the exercise that we should normally have
But the collies in the rescue centres that we have inquired about have all had really big problems that our age and OHs problems would be more difficult to live with than in the past

It’s easy to get used to not walking, JV.
We had to accept that it wasn’t sensible to get another dog after having them as part of our lives for the best part of 50 years. It was a wrench but the right thing to do as it wouldn’t have been fair to a dog when we weren't able to give it the life it needed. There comes a time for us all I’m afraid.

Well done you, Tinster👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻. It’s a selfless decision. You have realised within the life of your potential Dog you may not be able to give that Dog all you know it deserves. So you’ve chosen to deny yourself to save another Dog a troubled end. I hope I’m able to show your strength when that time comes. In truth I would do what you’ve done, I love Dogs way too much to put my needs before theirs. Good post Mucker👍🏻

Thankyou. It sure was a hard decision and it would have been all too easy to have selfishly got a dog for all the wrong reasons. Instead, we enjoy making a fuss of neighbours' dogs, or any we meet really.🙂

We also still have the delight of other dogs ,OHs son has now got a Tibetan Terrier who we see quite often and several dog walkers have been knocking with their. dogs to see how we are their dogs quite enjoy it as they now have learnt where the treats are kept
