It was part of the mention of deposits and our very changing situation

Ooo! Hot off the press. Deposits and be able to book a pitch type latter end of next year. No other details though.

Thanks, if true, that is diabolical.

Use of sites is the only Club service I have used for some time now and if the only way you can be certain of getting a pitch is by booking a year in advance then for me there is little pont in retaining membership. Also, being of a certain age, I was not happy about the discrimatory response I heard to a question about insurance.

The meeting was recorded, hopefully this will be made available fairly promptly and I can catch up/re-estabish with what was actually said.

Can you give us a hint about insurance, does it concern club members cover or CC Ltd?

It was about Club members insurance. It concerned me that the Club would not insure over 80s unless they had previously been continual insured with the Club. This was the case even though membership of the Club had been for a considerable number of years. I think this was about outfit insurance but I am not sure about that.

I think it related to vehicle insurance PD, rather than Caravan Cover. The webpage for Motorhome Insurance does mention that minimum and maximum age does apply........bottom of this link.

It does not really matter what insurance it is/was. The point is you can either insure someone or not whether they have continually been insured with the Club or not should be irrelevent. The fact you have been paying into the Club for a number of years adds insult to injury.

The minutes of the meeting should clarify.

It's taken a long time to get to this point.  I think it was around 10 years ago when I bought up the suggestion that folk should be allowed to book a pitch surface type, and I have been bringing it up at every suitable opportunity since.  I know there will be many who will welcome this facility, when the new booking engine is released  at some stage in 2022.

I suspect that this actio will greatly limit my usage of many club sites. I have no desire to book 1 monhs ahead and no available hardstand means no ta

Good on you for your dogged persistence, David.👏🏻

Booking by surface type will benefit all. Some prefer grass, some HS, so each can choose.

On some sites, only if you choose early enough.

On some sites it’s always been necessary to book early so there’s no difference. With the change eventually in place, you’ll have the certainty of a HS when you arrive.

    I can’t see what your point is.🤷🏻‍♂️

It could mean even more of a booking frenzy if booking a year in advance is still part of the "New system"surprised

Although if deposits have the affect some think, that could change. Presumably surface type and deposits won’t come in until November 22 at the earliest, unless they intend to have the present system running alongside the new.

My point is very simple. Pre pandemic I have usually booked 3 months ahead. Not interested in sites that need booking further ahead. Not interested in the honeypot sites either. CMC sites may therefore not be an option for me

The effect of deposits will depend on T & Cs

Perhaps the thinking to introduce this at the same time as deposits will discourage those who are inclined to book lots of pitches and end up by cancelling many of them?  I guess only time will tell..

We book many of our pitches at sort notice, and providing we adopt a bit of flexibility, we haven't generally found a major problem.  However, we generally don't book weekends, because of our commitments elsewhere.  For our big holidays (e.g. 6 week summer stints) we do book in advance, but also use a combination of CAMC site, private sites and C&CC sites.  How this works with paying deposits at CAMC sites as well as others, remains to be seen  but I'm sure we will find a way of working it all out.  For us, some of the fun is in the planning..  🙂

None of us have any idea how things will pan out yet and I’m not sure there'll ever be a return to pre-pandemic ways. Still, you can always book with the other club.👍🏻

+1👍🏻, those it don’t suit will be replaced by those that it does & make it a fairer playing field for all.

You may well be right that it may ?deter the few who book many site pitches(weekends?)some think.?, unless the deposits are non refundable or non transferable ,then it will not be any different for some,  as last time deposits were taken, who try to play the system ,

The members it may affect are some retired folk who it seems are watching their pennies with prices

Motor caravaners at least will not unless wanting to pay the add £4.20?to get a hardstand ,unless there is a big increase in hardstands on some  sites that the club  lease ,(many) then it will be  interesting to see how it transpires with pitch availability

That’s one of the fairest suggestions I’ve read of late. If it takes up less acreage why should it cost more(ft2 sq ft)👍🏻

It will indeed, particularly with the ease of amendment. If that has to be done over the phone like the C&CC it’s a pain. However, as far as cut off etc are concerned, I suspect they will be similar to the C&CC and it is certainly easier to get a booking with them.

I can do what I have long done. If there is a CMC near a stop then CMC site first choice (if I am able to book hardstand when new system comes in) followed by CCC if close. Otherwise either a CL or commercial..
