Bosch Ebike charging stations
Firstly, I've put this in the overseas section as the UK results for the same service only amounted to three, whereas Europe has hundreds...
I just came across a thread in another forum re Ebike charging when off grid...lots of technical stuff but one poster came up with this nugget...
bosch have a partnership arrangement with dealers/stockist all over Europe to help bikers charge their Ebike's while they visit the local town/city/area...
here's a link...I had just selected Spain as an example....hundreds of points available...

Interesting and good development for but not much good for those that have different system such as Brose, (which I think is a better motor all round and much better app connectivity) and others. Not all ebikes use Bosch.
As an aside I hope that all the different motor manufactures will standardise on the power charger bike plugs and have a standard charger? much like all phones (apart from Apple) use?

It would be nice if there was also standardisation of E-car charging connections too. It's going to make setting up the infrastructure harder than it should be.

yes agree with that too.

Hi BB, So I could add ebike "Range Anxiety" to my list of stressors?!!
It is a great service for those who need it, or can look at extended rides by using it, but its usually me that runs out of steam!
Mind you, I have a Brose motor and an iphone and I have no idea what other chargers connections are like

mandated standards (like the recently announced EU mobile phone charger standards)
Apart from Apple who have said they will still do their own thing because of "technical innovation".

For those camping with EHU, recharging when required isn't likely to be a problem...the main reason for my post was to assist those who go off grid and may find supporting (say) two Ebike batteries a bit tricky, depending on solar or other replenishments...
ive recently tripled the solar array on my van and, with an inverter for the mains-only charger, shouldn't have an issue...however, not everyone has this capability and, even using (say) a third of the batteries a day, will require some sort of replenishment....handy charging points should help.
re: the car charging situation....how about current fuel stations gradually converting to 'electric swap stations' where you drive in, remove old battery, drop in a recharged one and move on...just like quickly filling with diesel.
you can charge overnight at home if desired...
just needs some standardisation on batteries....lol, lol......

Given that EV batteries appear to constitute the bulk of the floorpan, I'm not sure it could be a "slot-in" in the same way as an Ebike battery.

Agreed....but we need a bit of different thinking to sitting in a service station for ages.....
perhaps the rapidly changing battery technology will get us to a small lightweight , super powerful unit that is interchangeable.
my brothers lithium golf trolley battery is about a quarter the size and a tenth of the weigh of my lead acid one....but five times the price....

"my brothers lithium golf trolley......."
HI BB,What size van will that tow??!!!!!
As for 'international standards' and the 'EU' seems to mee that is two different things and the only publicity I have heard, which is not a lot, seems to be what I would term typical EU bluster.

Yes a good idea and I would assume it will attract many cyclists who will then buy some refreshments. Many of the cafes and pubs on the C2C and national cycle routes around here advertise free charging if (I assume) you buy something, and others mostly say yes and ask you give a donation to their local charity or mrt. They don't have their own chargers though and it's a case of bring your own.
I don't carry a charger around but seen others ask and charge. I assume they carry a fast charger as a small lunch stop wouldn't do much otherwise?
