Surely if hand sanitisers are supposed to be a minimum of 70% alcohol that only leaves 30% for other ingredients so a bottle could never appear full if the alcohol had evaporated. I wouldn't have expected the sanitiser to last long enough for the alcohol to evaporate, even on the hottest of days. I can't say I've ever seen a bottle of whatever size to not be containing liquid unless totally empty. Some sanitisers are, admittedly, more viscous than others.

, I just said the site staff say that there was a problem with the alcohol based gel being to thick owing to the alcohol evaporating probably in a suuny area so you can stop trying to make something out of nothing

Do you take 2 lateral flow tests per week? I do. If you wear the surgical mask do you discard it after wearing it the once? If you wear a cloth mask how often do you wash it. Wearing a mask is a personal choice and I chose not to wear one, also I keep my distance from people if they let me. I find lot of things selfish but put up with it.

The removal of "all" restrictions was, IMHO, foolish. I wonder if Gov.uk are working on the basis of "this will always be around, live with it" rather than any sort of elimination/containment.

I’m hoping the increase to now over 40,000 daily cases is not a real rise. Testing has increased substantially as the schools return and those tests are bound to have picked up asymptomatic cases, that otherwise would have gone unknown and unreported. Hopefully it will now stabilise and not carry on upwards.

That was bound to happen as we unlocked and people got out and about more, attended sporting events, night clubs etc. As you say that progression was fairly steady with a few ups and downs. However, it does seem to have suddenly jumped to over 40K. Similarly in Scotland a few weeks ago when the schools returned.

I was told by Surgery Receptionist this morning that a shortage in supply of FLU Jabs means that they will by Dosing Up To 65's ONLY -- us older folks must wait until the next batch arrives.
BUT I have to admit that my Covid Booster is booked for tomorrow , 29th Sept, at 10.50 am after only getting the phone call at lunch time today.

I received my text today asking me to book my booster jab, and OH had received her text a few days ago. I phoned up the booking service this evening and, although we are still away in Cornwall, was able to book appointments for us both within 5 mins of each other in Penzance for a week tomorrow. The booking was very simple over the phone and took about 15 mins altogether. We now just have to get our Flu jabs booked and will then be set for the winter.

I understand that European countries all have differing restrictions in force but the disparity between our daily Covid cases and those of the popular European countries, France, Spain, Germany and Italy fall well below our daily figures and I really can't believe that this is due to us being really honest and Johnny Foreigner not!
The Spanish figure for yesterday was under 3,000, less than a tenth of our figure. Similar tales from France and Italy with only Germany exceeding 5,000.
2 things stick out for me. Firstly why has our UK Government had such draconian traffic light system in force for countries whose daily figures are far better than ours and secondly why on earth are these countries taking the risk of accepting our tourists? It can't be the money because there is not the quantity flocking over there at present.
No wonder those that have made the trip feel a lot safer than at home.

A quick heads up. Most Covid vaccination stations are currently accepting walk-ins. The only proviso being that you are eligible. For those over 50 that means at least six months has passed since your second jab. Yesterday despite the bad weather we started with six cubicles open but had to open another two to keep up. Good to see that people are still keen to get and stay protected.

That is interesting because we received a text inviting us to make an appointment just last week, but our pharmacy has no appointments left through until the end of the year.
But on googling "walk in centres near me" they all state only dose 1 and dose 2 available, nothing about boosters.
What is your advice as a "man on the spot"?
Edit - just checked the NHS website again and it specifically says this - "You cannot get a COVID-19 booster vaccine at a walk-in vaccination site."
Where is your centre? Might be tempted to travel at the end of the month!

Thanks for that update. Do you need to have same vaccine, ie Pfizer? I would opt for Pfizer if I could.
Edit.... just checked online, and have to have an invite for booster. Likely to be Pfizer. Bit more of a wait at moment for us then. Would like to get OH done ASAP, he is in vulnerable category.
Edit, Edit..... not quite six months yet for either of us. Our GP are usually well on the ball.

+1👍🏻, my GP contacted me over a week ago saying they’re planning boosters, Friday I got a text saying they’re awaiting an allocation as they’re being rationed due to supply issues☹️

My doc told me the expected delivery of booster vax hadn't arrived. It’s not looking great at the moment.

I can't speak for other centres. Yesterday we were giving Pfizer. As I understand it for the present, everyone will get that regardless of what you had first time around; but things do change. The walk-ins we had were mostly carers assisting those in need, youngster getting their first jab and those who had had an invitation for but not booked, just turned up. Of course all met the eligibility criteria.

I think the NHS website says most will get either Pfizer or Moderna as a booster, unless it’s not suitable. They have started on boosters in our area, as Mum has had hers. But she had her first jab before last Christmas, so was very early.

Wales, I assume as that is our area, is only doing Boosters by appointment and only after 180 days has elapsed since the second vaccine. This is why they wouldn't bring forward the booster for MiL. We've arranged one for the week we get back.
They have stock locally as some neighbours had theirs yesterday, exactly 180 days to the day.
