Farewell GB Sticker

Just in case members are not aware; from today the good old GB sticker is no longer valid in Europe and you must show a 'UK' sticker.  I just got a UK sticker which went on my number plate over the GB Euro Stars part of the number plate.

I suppose it will make money for the sticker manufacturers, as I suppose I will actually have to buy one. Now ferry and insurance are all done online, the last complimentary one I received was with our Autoroute tag.

    fwiw ...

I am no doubt mis-informed again but ....did read that the stand alone oval 'UK' sticker (black letters on white) is now the statutory requirement and also that the GB & Euro symbol on no.plates should be removed / plainly obscured or better to have new plain plates fitted.

Have now purchased & fitted UK oval stickers to both Car & Caravan in readiness & already have plain no.plates.

Saw a car with the new UK sticker on 1st one we have seen here and have seen a lot of UK cars with no stickers on even a union flag on a number plate.

I wonder how long it will be, before having the EU number plate on your car will mean a fail at an MOT?

The front one on our MH has the screws positioned so that I could just saw the EU bit off.😂 Unfortunately the rear has the screw through the EU bit.☹️

"Our Rulers" well they used to be twelve inches didn't they....?laughing

No doubt North Americans will be glad we've rejoined their mathmatical measurements.

On a recent trip to France (in my car not my motorhome), I noticed that there were a very high proportion of cars with UK registrations, possibly even the majority of those I observed, that carried no GB plate whatsoever - be it as part of the number plate or otherwise. I travel regularly to France and had never noticed this before. I even wondered if I had missed some change in the requirements following Brexit.

To answer Montesa.  I understand that the UK sticker on the number plate is fine.  It is what I have and they are widely available now.

In Spain you have to have a UK sticker, no matter what is on your numberplate.  The regs are on the Govt website.

It would be nice if people did a bit of research rather than making silly comments about subjects of which they know nothing and slandering the Scottish Government to boot.  In fact it would be better if such political comments were made in a more appropriate forum.

Strangely I have a metric steel ruler that measures up to 150mm. I always call it a six inch rule, must be my age.

Is there a UK sticker with the EU stars around it?  I'm proud to be a European.

I'm not sure undecided but like us I guess you are not going to worry over it wink

We have the GB sticker on the back of our MH where it will stay until we get home.

I really can't see the police in Spain overly worried about it. Do they even know?

    Morning

Shiny new UK sticker installed, Sundays ferry is beckoning! Been a long time coming, it's almost as exciting as the first time we went.  Anyone in Spain at present, can I ask is fuel availability ok, or is it just here that's in a muddle?

You’ll always be European, physical geography guarantees you that.

My ‘made in China’ UK number plate stickers are starting to peel off already 🥴
