Isolating underslung gas tank.
Turning off my gas supply involves crawling half under the Moho to access the isolation valve which is behind a small panel. This would be even more inconvenient if it were chucking it down. There are also individual isolating switches which are easily accessible inside the van. I believe that the system has an automatic cut-off in the event of a crash.
Previously, I have had gas cylinders which were easy to deal with and I always turned them off although I do not recall ever having them visually checked.
Do others crawl under the van or just use the inside valves, or something else?

Logic would suggest that if there was a requirement to isolate the gas tank it would need to be done at he tank rather than elsewhere? Hopefully you will get input from those with underslung tanks as they seem quite common now, particularly in certain brands of motorhome.

Our Gaslow Cylinders have to be turned off before filling, isolating them from the MH pipe work. I would assume the same is true of an underslung tank. Surely it is not necessary to crawl underneath every time you fill to do this. I would struggle to do that, raining or not.

Using the inside isolator taps has been sufficient to satisfy every ferry operator I've used.
Search the AS forum for more info, Ron.

You could always seek advice direct with the ferry/tunnel company. To my mind if you don't isolate at the tank the system is strictly speaking not isolated. However it does depend on the actual knowledge of the person checking at the point of departure which I suspect is not that great?

Btw, Ron, the GasIt tank systems fitted to AS vans do indeed have the crash safe cut-off feature.

We have an underslung tank on our PVC, as TW says turning off the valves in the van is all that is required for either ferry or the tunnel.
We crossed over begining of September via the tunnel.
LotsWe were asked if they were shut off and the chap did come in to verify. Ours is also a Gasit tank with the cut out feature.

That’s the way to do it 👍🏻
