CL inspections
We booked a CL back in March for a ten day stay. Upon arriving today we were most annoyed to find SIX OTHER UNITS pitched, who clearly were not leaving. We were expected as well, since there was a stake with our name on it where we, THE SEVENTH were expected to set up ! Needless to say, we didn't.
Are there no checks ,especially in ' honey pot' areas like the South West , especially with the boom in 'staycationing'.
The owner was most put out on finding that we wouldn't be stopping, claiming that she could have let the spot many times over. Not without breaking the rules, she couldn't!

Please for the sake of other members report this to clresponse@camc.com otherwise it will happen again.

In my view it’s better to report the breach and risk losing one site from the network rather than letting it continue with the possible outcome of the club losing its right to issue exemption certificates. That would result in us losing approx 2000 sites.

Oh, no, he isn’t. That’s just an excuse😀

Well done👍🏻

A landowner can currently have as many as he/she likes for up to 56 days without planning consent due to covid. So it is quite possible some CL operators will just say "Stuff The Caravan Club" and get on with making some money.

Which CL was it GT?
1 -
Not quite right Nav. That’s for tent sites only, not caravans.
2 -
Why, member should know which sites are flaunting the regs, and can then make up their own minds whether or not to visit those sites that are.

You could write a review, GT. Others have of sites that bend the rules and then we might spot it for ourselves.

Always a tricky subject, - do I enjoy the site - it's peace and quiet, go back home or stay and complain?
There have been occasions when I have faced excess numbers but none the less, have kept quiet, because it suited my needs and I was not unduly inconvenienced.
Indeed a recent site that we visited was clearly set out as a CL for 5, with an overflow in a separate enclave for a further 5, if needed. That separate area even had a different name to it.
I guess this is where we have to be a bit flexible in order to maintain the network as a whole.
You have options!

Oh dear. All references to this arrangement that I have read have refered to "camping" and "campsite". As that is how the media often refer to caravan usage I had assumed they were included.

I'm pretty sure that the 28/ currently 56 day concession applies to all LV's. Isn't that the way that rally fields operate?

This is information I found CY
https://assetsphere.co.uk/2021/04/20/new-56-day-camping-rights-come-with-strings-attached/
I was interested because we have seen a few new camping fields down here, but none with vans or MH’s on. There’s a flow diagram at the bottom of the page that shows the do and don’ts.

No, no PM facility on here😁 Wondering as we might do Dorset on another tour. There is a CL near Bridport that does have planning permission for two extra pitches, stated on its web page. Your experience sounds different though GT. Hope you found another place to pitch up easily.

Good Morning G Trimmer
I am sorry to hear that a CL site is breaking the 5 van rule on their CL site.
Every CL is visited on an annual basis by their CL Advisor but we do rely on Members reporting any breaches of the CL rules to the Club as well.
Please could you email clresponse@camc.com with more information so we can investigate this further.
Thanks
Maddie

I have just sent this to the e-mail address above:-
We have returned from a holiday including 4 nights at Little Birch Caravan Park in Dorset.
It was a pleasant site and seemed well kept, but with one to me area of concern
In our time there the toilet bin was finally emptied after 3 days and the toilet not cleaned over the period of our stay.
I did not raise this with the owner and wish to remain anonymous to them.

How we do things differently. In your instance, I would simply have phoned or emailed owners, explains there was a problem in loos, and could they sort it out please? Not saying what you did complaining to HQ is wrong, just to me a little bit excessive given all the positive reviews it has. Easily remedied directly in this case, although I do agree that if Site is busy, more frequent checks on facilities provided might be needed.
We know from CL owning friends that bins of all kinds are soon left overflowing on departure days with some of the stuff folks leave behind. Tents, chairs, quilts, barbecues, clothing, bags of nappies etc.... to name a few we were told about.☹️

Sound as if ,you are the same as many members useing club sites ,who post a review with negative comments, when a word with the on site staff would probably have given a reason or sorted the "problem" while staying ,rather than have a less than satisfactory stay,
