It seems you are into Christmas/New Year pricing? The week before its about £26. I like the showground site at Harrogate as its got good transport links, shame its closed. It used to be a Club site years ago.

Just out of interest what's the price difference? And for both Christmas and non Christmas?

They don't appear to have a website or give online prices as you have to send off an email for them?

Post edit - have you read the reviews?

By reading this years review of shawls trailer park  I think the price difference is more than compensated over the Xmas peak period by using Knaresborough club sitesurprisedcool

You are right David, I hadn't even considered the Christmas pricing would start so early. All I want is a brief stopover to meet friends on the long haul home from the Borders.

So not that bad I would say? Yes the Christmas holidays would start about then but more importantly is that a lot of people would want to visit towns with Christmas markets, hence the higher prices. did you get any prices?

I still think the price high, I wouldn't pay that not even at Christmas unless there was a very good reason for being there. Christmas Markets usually take place much earlier, Harrogate's is in November but was cancelled this year. By price you are refering to Shaws,? If so, the answer is no, I will phone nearer the time but reviews (yes I have read them) indicate round about the £20 mark.

Nellie did you mean to post a link?

Thanks Nellie, that could be very useful not only in December but also for the future. My eldest grandson is an instructor at the college next door.

There's another decent one that we have used a few times close by too, which has both H/ S and grass pitches. No web site but do have an e-mail address.

PeeDee, here’s another possible for you, it’s just around the corner from Club Site at Knaresborough........

    https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/certificated-locations/england/north-yorkshire/knaresborough/port-arthur-farm/

We have stayed, it’s a very nice Site. It was in its first month of opening when we stayed. We used HS area. It now has a purpose built facility block. Owners nice, very accommodating. Not sure on prices at the moment, and for when you wanted to go. If you hint about your route up to Scotland, we might have other suggestions, as we often do Winter tours utilising A1 route?

We have used two Club Sites this tour, on our second as I type. Both comparable prices to CLs, helped of course by the lower VAT rate. We paid £15.49 per night at Exeter Racecourse, now here at Marazion, it’s £16.01 per night, so great value at the moment.

Both good sites and excellent value for money although Exeter has no hot water this weekend - neither has the van thank you intermittent Combi fault!

That’s hard luck SB. We knew about the hot water issue at Exeter, staff phoned us prior to our arrival, but it made no difference to us. Bit more difficult if your boiler in MH is down though. Mind, that old camping trick of a kettle and a strip wash isn’t too hard nowadays. We left yesterday morning having had two great nights. At Marazion now, but we go back to Exeter later this month. Not expecting boiler to be fixed, not sure who does repairs, Club or Racecourse!

Still resort to a strip wash on C&CC sites where no temperature adjustment in shower as they hotter than my back can tolerate after radiotherapy 28 years ago. I am surprised that adjustment is not available in the disabled facilities either.

I’m not a fan of Club Site showers, don’t like overheads prefer a handheld, but given how many get stolen, I can see why Club have fixed heads. I thought they were all adjustable temp though, except with the overheads, you have to do the “too cold, too hot” dance before you get it right. Not an issue at Marazion, there are no facilities😂

Caravan club showers are fine as the temperatures are adjustable it is only the C&CC.

Some sites (not either club) have showerheads fitted to sliding height rails. The heads can also be unclipped for those who prefer hand helds.

in this day and age, at £35-£55 a night, you'd think both clubs would have managed to get towards this standard.

folk often praise the clubs' (both) 'consistency' yet, as others have mentioned, the 'shower experience' is now a long way behind some of the top commercials.

with most club sites only providing a pitch and a shower as their basic amenities for the above fees, surely its time for a revamp of showers across the network?

IMHO (qualified)they are certainly lagging behind top site these day with their (albeit clean) facilities.

I think most Club Sites do have at least one sliding handheld BB. Usually a “modified” cubicle. The heads get stolen though, two went on one of our stays at Yellowcraig back in the early 2000’s. Warden’s weren’t happy. Neither were most of the visitors. So as I say, Club are no doubt wary of providing easily stolen equipment.

Cant say ive ever come across (or heard about) any stolen showerheads on any of the commercials we've used that have them.

I can shower on C&CC sites but I need to get in just after 6 am and start from cold and get out when it quickly reaches my limit. Not a pleasant way to shower. The shower head that I fitted at home is o a rise and fall rail and can be dethatched and is adjusted to a suitable temperature for me. OH can turn up as the stop stops it going too low an I simply turn it down to that stop.

Most of this clubs assisted shower cubicles  as TDL states have adjustable temp and sliding sliding shower heads, and hand grips wink

...but how many 'assisted' cubicles are there compared to normal (non adjustable) showers?

the majority of campers wont be using the assisted ones.

with all the 'exiting redevelopments' were being informed of, it would be nice to see a bit of modernisation/updating in that area.

Each toilet block usually has at least one height adjustable shower in each male and female area, plus in the disabled room, all CAMC showers  have temperature adjustment.

The fixed heads are not so good, I would prefer them all to be adjustable.

Does the Club fit very expensive, desirable shower heads, since people steal them?   What sort of person steals a shower head?!

A few sites we have stayed on here only have push button controls and no temp control.

As to club sites it has even be noted that not just the shower head disappears but also the shower hose as well and the rail even in the disabled shower, the shower heads are usually Mira as is the shower controls but they may have change these for cheaper ones.

The assisted cubicles are usually one in  the female and one in the male ,and have never found a problem in using them but not necessarily during the morning rush hour.?cool

the big commercial site we will now be using again this yearlaughing for our much missed meetups .the last couple of years has the same set up

Then as club sites facilities are now used by OH with her radar key she has everything in the one room

I notice that the ccc also seem to have fixed shower heads in most of their upgraded facility blocks,

As do the showers in our local upgraded leisure centre

It seems its the forward thinking  for the future,

Much less open to damage and easier to keep sanitised
