Thank You C&CC

Maybe you have to have been a Member for more than a few months DD😇

yes after all didn't DD just join again? His story was mid August I recall

Only the other day you were gleefully telling us you got a free site night voucher for rejoining CAMC. Surely wanting a membership extension as well would appear to be avaricious? 🤔

I'm confused DD, you wrote you joined this year and certainly you weren't a member before then and I assume you didn't join till sites were open again this year after the lockdown? After all would anyone join after an absence when no sites were open?
So why would you expect any 'refunds' or extra time if they weren't closed when you were a member?

For all those that appear to be knocking DD, I like many of you are, a long established member ( joined 1978 ) . I am sure he was only trying to highlight how the C&CC value their Members and their loyalty in comparison to the C & MC valuation of it's members. As far as I am concerned I expected nothing and got what I expected.

Are you sure the C&CC do value their members or just trying desperately trying to hold onto them? It is an illusionary saving anyway as it's just a delayed payment, you don't get the money in your hand. The C&CC closed quite a few sites on a temporary basis so you could argue you are not getting the full benefit of membership anyway. I find it a bit rich for DD to complain about the CMC when they have given him a free site voucher, worth up to £35 for rejoining. That is worth double what any delay in membership charges would be! Methinks he doth protest too much!

£35 is actually just under 65% of the membership fee so pretty good really.

DD appears to have got one, as in just received so I'll expect he might be able to help?

To the best of my belief, Steve, there is only one extension being given. If I remember correctly, those whose membership expired after summer lockdown last year had 3 months added to their renewal. For example, my membership renewal date was Nov 2020 and this was delayed until Feb 2021.
Those whose membership expired during lockdown, I forget the cut off date, were expected to renew as normal which kept them onboard and the 3 months extension was then added to the 2021 renewal as seems to be the case with DD.
Having half price veteran membership meant the extension equated to giving me about £5🤣🤣🤣

I clearly interpret differently because I don't see any advantage in what the C&CC is doing, it's all smoke and mirrors to me. The only advantage is that when you decide to end your membership of the C&CC, perhaps when any of us finally decide our touring days are over, you will get three months more whether you want it it not. I struggle to see where the actual financial benefit is as you never get the money in your hand. Even the £14 that the three months cost won't even earn you any interest in the bank.
To me the CMC were much more generous to members by offering discounted site vouchers which had the potential to save many times more money. They also passed on the VAT saving on all site bookings. All I am trying to explain here is that the C&CC offer to extend membership by three months is not as generous as what the CMC offered and to look at the membership extension in isolation is less than fair?

However, David, the CC's offer was only a potential saving to those members that use club sites, not any use for those like us that are members for other reasons such as club insurance, and the CL network.

I have not given any clear inclination as to my interpretation of either clubs actions, only not what I would not expect. However working in sales all my life as a Representative and then as a Manager I do know that all customers like to feel valued and rightly so. Nellie has pointed out one way the C & M C are not reaching their customers in such a way to feel valued. As I mainly use CL sites I would fall into that category. However this doesn't bother me as I pay my subscription and get what I need for the money.

I'm a bit confused now, DD (not difficult! ). If you rejoined CAMC one month before restrictions were lifted surely you must have realised you wouldn't be able to use sites for the full 12 months? But, presumably for the following 11 months you could?
I seem to remember a thread where a new member complained about the free site night voucher offer being withdrawn, so I'd say you've done pretty well anyway.
2 -
DD has said "It was not made clear to me by CC Ltd prior to me paying for membership that I would not be able to use the sites for a complete 12 months". If this is the case then he has every right to expect a full 12 months membership with access to all the facilities and services.

Perhaps DD, himself, will elaborate in his own words and explain what part of the restrictions he didn’t understand if he rejoined while they were in place to, by his own admission, take advantage of the site night voucher offer🤔😂😂
3 -
Yes, but my point is that surely that didn't need saying since the restrictions were apparently still in place at the time he chose to rejoin.
Hopefully DD will come back to the thread to explain what he thought the position would be!

If as now pointed out DD joined this club one month before the covid restrictions were lifted to take advantage off a special offer that now appears was coming to an end ,it seems to me the Op in this case was a case shooting one self in the foot and then trying to complain about the lack of advise

I re-joined one month prior to the easing of restrictions.
It was not made clear to me by CC Ltd prior to me paying for membership that I would not be able to use the sites for a complete 12 months
I am still confused how those two sentences marry up. If restrictions were still in place the you knew that the club's sites were not open, after all it was a national thing. The club clearly stated by the club which sites were closed and when. Also as a long time member of CT you would have been aware of this as it was discussed many times.
as for passing on the VAT that is truly smoke and mirrors. The money does not come from CC Ltd and only represents a loss to HMG / HMRC...
Again some campsites and business have not passed on the reduction, it was not legally required to so.

Again I fail to see how DD missed that as it was very clear on the website and discussed while he was still posting. And of course with someone with his law background and knowledge of contracts it doesn't sound like him if he didn't check such things?
In any event a 3 month extension would be 'worth' £13.50 and he got a £35, so he should be happy with that.

Fine I'm sure they will, but make the first gesture and why not return the site voucher? Wait I remember now you used it!
I think we all know what the full story anyway DD

I suppose, in fairness, just as KP now have to include the warning "may contain nuts" on ... er.... their packets of nuts ...
CAMC should have said, for the unwary "whilst caravan sites have to remain closed, our sites will. ..er .... remain closed"!
