I'm in the process of looking to book a ferry for a French holiday next year.

Route: Out Plymouth to Santander. Return St. Malo to Portsmouth (daytime) this is from late May to early July, 2 adults car + caravan with a cabin on the outward journey

Brittany Ferries £774. CAMC £1008.75

That's a massive difference and I can get a further 10% discount with BF

Hi Harry, Just decided to ring the club tomorrow after looking at prices tonight.

I had a price a week or so back for a May/June return is Plymouth that is near double what I paid in 2019.
Due to possible date change looked agin tonight and same sort of price so checked BF still doing van goes free and redid the quote-£652.

Then looked at BF site. The exact same crossing is £555 BUT price for car only is £262.
This is what I paid in 2019 so think it’s possible that the clubs travel service has a glitch and it’s not accounting for the free van hence deciding to call.

Hi Harry, Well just spoken to the club and its not good news-there are no longer any caravan goes free or 50% off deals.

The info on the website, that says they are, is for this year not 2022.

BF have said that certain 2022 crossings will be discounted but do not give any details.

The club priced a crossing, that BF say falls into the discounted range, and the price is exactly the same as booking direct with BF.

I made the point that if club members are told there are discounted fares but the price is the same as booking direct this is misleading, to put it mildly!

What about adding Site Vouchers? Or is that no longer available?

We still have a voucher for BF, looking at using it for next year but might not use all the value. Anyone know what happens to the balance, would we lose it or would they give us another voucher.

Thinking of going out P&O coming back BF.

No experience of BF, but when I rebooked a Eurotunnel crossing a few years ago, the new booking was cheaper than the orginal.  They didn't refund the difference, but it didn't amount to much at all.

Usually with vouchers, if you exchange it for less than its face value, you lose the rest, but it's still worth it to enquire I'd have thought, you never know.

Thanks Ina, that was as I thought.

I only took the voucher to help BF out. I guess I could have pushed for a cash refund.

We had a ferry to Bilbao booked but they cancelled it and sent us a voucher.

Its valid for 2 years so I'm sure we will use it. Will contact BF to see what they say.

I've recently found out that the tunnel don't give refunds if you change a crossing frown

Still available but they make no difference price wise.Buying vouchers or booking sites does mean its a 'package' so you get greater protection.

Hi David, If I do an Eric Idle, and look on the bright side, this now means that the price difference between a France route and a Spain route has decreased-for sameish dates can get a return to Santander, including cabins both ways, for £500 more.

The only problem is we are missing Italy having not been since 2015 but already thinking of an alternative plan of a week flyaway in Italy/Sicily + Ferry crossing to Santander for a van holiday.

    Every cloud and all that!!

    Hope the trips going well?

Hi Tammy, Looking at the price increase you may not have an issue using its full value!
