Thinking it might be useful to start a list of convenient towns where folks have got their test done on returning home?  Unless of course its really easy and suitable pharmacies are widespread?

The list exists. Go to Sante.fr and click Depistage (testing).
Choose from the list of departements in France and you will get details of testing centres in every town in that departement. The list includes pharmacies as well as health centres and nurses. There are phone numbers for each, it’s a good idea to call in advance when you know where you will be in your last 24 hours in France.

    Hi Folks

My Wife and I have just returned from Spain arriving back in the UK on the 27th August,

If it is any help we got our covid test in Santander the day before we travelled home, the clinic was fantastic we were in and out in 5 minutes the Doctor that done the test was excellent very professional and spoke superb English, I highly recommend it I also think well priced, it cost us £90 for the both of us, this is the address.

    Dra Concha De La Fuente

Paseo de Pereda 15 Entlo D

    Phone (034) 942 222260

    Cheers Keith

p.s her clinic is right on the front overlooking the port

In France at the moment, and a word of warning for those arranging the 'test to return' in France!  Because many French people are choosing not to be vaccinated they require testing to enter many places - shopping centres, restaurants and bars.  This means places are busy, and some testing centres/pharmacies are taking bookings quite a few days in advance.  It may not be prudent to leave booking a test until the last 72 hours in France, as suggested by Moorgate.

We leave next Thursday and are struggling to arrange a test on Tuesday next week.

If they will let you. BInL went to book one for his son who is visiting in a couple of weeks and they said to come back nearer the time, as they were not booking them that far in advance.

Thanks Steve, might be worth checking out a few up in the north of France to see if they are just as busy.

Who knows what it will be like by the end of October. Good to keep options open.

NO need to do it in person. Book a Day 2 test online with Express Test and they send a test kit to your home, ready when you get home, and then a courier picks it up two days later. Zero Hassle.

There are two different tests required.

The first is a test in France, at a Pharmacy, Health Centre, or Testing Centre, and has to be done within 72 hours of departure from France.  Of you can get a test to take to France with you and you send the results digitally who send you a certificate of the result.

The second is the day 2 test, which you can have in a testing centre, or, as  you say, have it sent to our home.  We have chosen to travel for a test, because the cost is only £20 each, as opposed to £54 each for a test done at home.
