Has anybody stayed overnight on the Port Solent carpark with their caravan before catching the early morning Portsmouth to Spain ferry? Seen lots of motorhome info but no caravans.

None of the bays lend themselves to a long rig. You would do better to continue on westward towards the sea wall and park along there. There is a roundabout just before the MOD site where you can turn your rig round. Mind out for the sleeping policemen. The second one is particularly vicious.

    Zoom in on Google Earth.

I thought you could stay at the ferry port?, not done it as I only live 30 mins from port, you certainly can at Poole. I have arrived at Portsmouth ferry port early doors and there have always been MH's/caravans parked up.

The road I refer to is alongside the harbour wall. More akin to a lay-by next to a reservoir than a normal street. It looks better with the tide in. wink

I have parked overnight at the port.

This is what the port guide says,

    Motorhome and caravan parking
There is limited parking for these vehicles prior to early morning sailings, on the hard standing in front of the multi-storey car park. Vehicles are permitted to park along the yellow fenceline after 10pm when the last sailing has embarked. Please ensure you adhere to these parking places at the correct times and alert Security in the terminal that you are there.  You are required to stay with your vehicle at all times.
