Did anyone listen to the Jeremy Vine programme yesterday at lunchtime on BBC2.

There was some supposedly journalist called Mike who hates caravanners with a vengeance, he drives a jag and had a good rant about how we should not live in little metal boxes as it is un healthy and we should be limited to driving at night. Some people replied and gave some good answers.
The main thing is his information as a journalist was way out of date which was corrected by some listeners. The main thing was the man had no idea and I am sure it was a put up job by the beeb to rile up and get an audience figure.
I would not be surprised if he was an actor and it was a put up job as Mike (if that’s his real name) showed himself to be a real second rate t*****

It's doing the rounds over the past few weeks as schools broke up for holidays.

He drives a cheap Jag apparently and on the basis of the cheapness of it thinks he has some understanding of enlightened people with resources facilitating units (MH / Caravan tow car) costing multiples of what he drives with an attitude from the era of rank and status when the Caravan Club was populated by Civil Servants and military types.

    Bit sad really.tongue-out

If you take the broader definition of the ‘public sector’ workforce about 21% of the workforce are civil servants. To that you can add serving armed forces and volunteer reserves by your definition. In addition about 5% of the population are veterans. So, I’m not sure what era you’re referring to or what point you’re trying to make? However, in any analysis you’d expect a representative CMC membership of above 25% comprising these ‘types’. Maybe you’d like to see the back of these folks with attitude problems but it would leave a big hole in the membership numbers.

Personally I find your post is as prejudiced and ill informed as the comments by Mike Parry.
    Bit sad really. 😛

Typical Jeremy Vine. Find someone with outrageous views and let them rant without challenging them. Then open the phone lines to others with the same or diametrically different views and sit back and enjoy the verbal fight!

Mike parry and Jeremy Vine are a pair of no goods. (I will keep my language decent for the sake of forum rules). Vine is a has been. Parry is a never has been. We stopped listening to Radio 2 years ago when the BBC sacked their best presenters, followed by Radio 4 which followed it into the bin.

I see that he now advocating that groups of Cyclists should ride 4 abreast on country roads so as to ensure that those in cars etc slow down!

"People who cycle in the country should be encouraged to ride 2, 3 and 4 abreast like this. For the following reasons:

    1. It calms the traffic behind them2. It makes it less easy for bad drivers to attempt dangerous passes 3. It is more pleasant and sociable for them.pic.twitter.com/vqi4dsuUSs
