Lovely to see that at long last Tom Daley, and his diving partner Matty Lee, have won a Gold Medal. I am sure he was thinking of his Dad who sadly died a few years ago.

Absolutely agree David and what an emotional watch!

Congratulations to all the Olympians and special thoughts to those who medal 🏅

2012 gave us ‘Super Saturday’ and today we’re witnessing ‘Magnificent Monday’ Great stuff and just the lift the Country needs 👍

Yes, very pleased for Tom Daley. He has occasionally had a very rough time for one reason or another. This is actually his fourth Olympics! Great for his new partner in synchro as well👍

What about Tom Pidcock🤩Decided not to ride in road race, opted for cycling cross, brilliant decision. Fingers crossed for Charlotte Dujardin and her new dressage horse🤞

Great win for Tom Pidcock, he has been performing great all year until his injury. He did fantastic to recover from that so quickly. I saw GT took another dive, definitely not his year.

CD came away with a bronze in the team comp, hope she goes better in the individual competition.

I fail to see watch punishment the Russian Olympic drug taking competitors have suffered.  Create a flag, changed your name and continue taking drugs.  Doesn't seem fair or sportsmanlike to me and they don't seem to have suffered !

Another two superb medals from the cyclists, this time BMX riders. Sadly, the overlooked and underfunded area, so a huge medal for these two youngsters,

Was there ever a more deserved gold medal than that by GB Mixed Triathlon? Appreciate all medals are hard won, but this one so deserved for all 4 athletes involved. 🏅🏅🏅🏅

Closely followed by another GB quartet in the 4x100 Swimming Medley 🏅🏅🏅🏅

One of our hopes for an athletics medal, DA-S, failed to live up to expectations, due to an injury it seems. I think that we will struggle to win any medals on the track now.

I worry that the British press (mainly TV) build up some of these athletes so much that when they don't perform we are all disappointed which seems unfair. Looking at the competition from Jamaica with three possible champions it was going to be a big ask? It seems that many of those Brits that have won Golds seem to have done so against the odds or perhaps were unexpected. If we keep our expectations low key we may be pleasantly surprised?

BMX riders have done it again👏👏👏 A gold and a bronze, superb skills from such young riders. I am enjoying these new additions to the Olympic sports, they might not be classic sports, but they do require a huge degree of athleticism, co ordination and bravery. I hope they get the funding they deserve now, they have certainly delivered. It all starts in the velodrome as well today........

Just watched the Women’s Madison from start to finish, absolute master class in cycle racing, head, shoulders and tactics way beyond every other team.  They were both astonishing to be honest.

Great results for both 4x100 relay teams as well in Athletics Stadium👏👏

But imagine how gutted the men's team must feel having been beaten by just 0.1 secs. Great show though, and the ladies did well too. So glad that Laura Muir got a medal at last, she ran a great race.

Didn't the other Laura and Katie show them all now to race. Practising with the young guys certainly paid off. Mustn't forget Kate French's good in the pentathlon, even if the poor German got a very uncooperative horse for the jumping phase.

Superb MP Gold. I half felt sorry for the German women, but felt a whole lot sorrier for the horse! She boobed by not choosing the reserve horse sadly. Trust me, they know everything that is going on on their backs! Devastating to have it happen in full view of the World though, it was a shocker of an experience.

It seems that the horse had done similar before with another competitor, so why the German lass didn't choose the reserve is a bit of a mystery!

I think that might have been the German woman’s problem. She had seen it misbehave, that sets up tension that transmits to the horse, and then it just becomes a cycle. Booting it in the ribs and cracking it with a whip didn’t help?
Our horse always knew who was riding him, with me he was “oh it’s her, this will be slow and boring, I had better just go with it” With OH “ yahoo, this is going to be exciting, hope he’s up for a gallop and a fight”

He knew I wasn’t strong enough to be fully in control, I had to really learn to relax and keep calm. OH just enjoyed the danger! 😂

I am intrigued by that misbehaving horse, Saint Boy. (Oh, the irony in that name) What caught my eye was the bridle and bit it was wearing. It’s a very complex combination, primarily a Gag I think.

We've enjoyed watching this years Olympics we seem to have missed out on some of the action though. Not sure if its us but we often only seem to catch bits of an event rather than the whole thing.

The German female rider and horse were difficult viewing, like others cannot figure why she chose that horse, it certainly didn't like the  German style of riding. I agree with TDA they know who's on their back and respond accordingly. My horse would play up OH but not me, she was all innocent when I was on top, definitely had the look ' not me Mum it was him' laughinglaughinglaughing

The new events are proving good ones for the team GB long may it last.

Another MP Gold🤩 Cracking performance. I have always enjoyed MP, a contrived event, but so many different skills and sports to master. Apparently it’s changing for next Olympics, but not sure how.

It seems that we are doing better with the unexpected successes than the usual bankers. Medals in weigh lifting, modern pentathlon, pole vault, "trick"cycling, etc. Just need the track cyclist to add a couple more tomorrow to ensure a very successful olympics.

Is this the horse that the German  Official said the rider should get more physical with as well as being the one that he is alleged to have 'punched violently' resulting in the coaches official accreditation being removed ??

Yes Brian. The German official was removed, endorsed by the German team themselves in an interview today. It wasn’t in the pool of horses used by today’s men, although the one ridden by our Women’s Gold Medal winner was. Luckily, Joe Cheung drew the same horse!

It’s not unusual for horses in MP to apparently misbehave. Some athletes just don’t have the knack of being able to get on anything, and all horses can be a little bit unpredictable, even on the rare occasion top class show jumpers. From what I have read, Saint Boy was badly wound up by a previous athlete, the poor German woman got on him and things went from bad to worse. I would have gone for the reserve horse, at least it might have behaved better, even if it didn’t jump well. Being able to get on with, and keep an unknown horse calm, is part of the competition.

Thanks, TDA,  its a v-e-r-y  long time since I got on a horse and even in those days they used to trim the 'feathering' from the legs before I arrived --  Well they didn't have a Suffolk Punch wink

Well it seems to be all over bar the shouting!! Very successful Olympics for Team GB with 22 Gold medals and 65 in total so well done everyone. I thought it would be difficult to get anywhere near what we achieved in London and Rio but fortunately I have been proved wrong and we have seen some exciting new talent, well supported by the veterans of several Olympics. Not long to Paris in 2024!!!

An excellent Games. We haven’t been watching much live this time, but still enjoyed it. I think a few other nations have had a good Games as well, particularly Italy. Good to see some medals going anywhere but the usual place. Lots of fourth placings, that bodes well for the future. Well done, all those involved 👏👏👏
